Chapter 6: A Beautiful New Blueprint
One year later.
The grand opening of the Riverview Waterfront Community Center was a massive success. The media, city officials, and hundreds of families gathered to celebrate the beautiful, light-filled space. As the Lead Architect, my name was etched in bronze near the main entrance.
But the real celebration was happening later that evening.
The sun was setting, painting the sky in vibrant shades of gold and violet, as I stood in the dressing room of the Grand Regency Hotel. I looked at myself in the mirror, wearing a breathtaking white lace wedding gown. My back was straight, my head held high. On the vanity table sat the framed photo of my late mother—fully repaired, the glass pristine and clear.
"You look absolutely beautiful, Emily."
I turned to see Daniel standing at the doorway. His arm had fully healed, and he looked incredibly handsome in his custom black tuxedo. According to tradition, he wasn't supposed to see the bride before the ceremony, but neither of us cared much for traditional rules when it came to our love.
He walked over, his eyes shining with profound devotion. He picked up a delicate diamond necklace and carefully fastened it around my neck.
"Are you ready to walk down the aisle?" he asked, holding out his arm.
"More than ready," I smiled, wrapping my arm securely around his.
We walked out into the beautiful garden terrace, where our friends, colleagues, and loved ones stood up to applaud. The air was filled with music, laughter, and the scent of fresh blooming jasmine.
As we exchanged our vows under a canopy of white roses, I thought back to that stormy night one year ago. Tyler had thrown my suitcase into the mud and asked, "Who’s going to love you now?"
Looking at Daniel’s radiant smile as he slipped the wedding band onto my finger, I finally had the perfect answer.
