Chapter 5 - The Infiltration

By Thursday evening, the floodwaters across Virginia had completely receded, leaving behind a crisp, chilly night.
Inside the quiet, top-floor executive suite of Redwood Automotive’s headquarters in downtown Richmond, Travis Bellamy sat behind his father’s massive mahogany desk, sipping scotch from a crystal tumbler.
At twenty-nine, Travis looked every bit the arrogant heir—wearing a five-thousand-dollar suit, his feet propped up on the polished wood, reviewing the agenda for Friday morning’s shareholder gala.
The heavy glass office door unlocked with a soft digital chime.
Travis didn't look up from his tablet. "Dad, I told you the press releases are ready—"
"I’m not your father, Travis," a sharp, icy voice spoke from the doorway.
Travis looked up quickly, nearly dropping his tumbler.
Erica Rowan walked into the office, wearing an immaculate white suit, her hair styled with flawless precision, holding a leather portfolio under her arm.
Standing directly behind her, towering over the doorway like a storm cloud, was Damon Ellis, wearing a crisp dark suit that broad-shouldered frame filled out with imposing authority.
Travis’s face went white, then flared into a furious red. He slammed his glass onto the desk.
"What the hell is this?!" Travis yelled, standing up. "Erica, you don't have access to this floor after hours! And why did you bring this fired grease-monkey into my office?!"
Damon didn't say a word. He stepped into the room, casually closed the heavy oak door behind them, and engaged the internal deadbolt with a solid CLICK.
Travis backed up a step, his eyes darting nervously toward Damon’s broad chest. "Damon... stay back. I'll call security."
"Security isn't on this floor tonight, Travis," Erica said smoothly, walking up to the desk and setting her portfolio down with a loud thump. "I authorized an emergency system update for the entire building’s security network twenty minutes ago. As CEO, I still hold primary administrative clearance until Friday morning."
"You're crazy!" Travis spat, reaching for the desk phone.
Damon stepped forward, placing his large palm flat over the receiver, gently pushing it down. He leaned over the desk, his face inches from Travis’s.
"Don't make a scene, kid," Damon whispered, his voice low, calm, and terrifyingly cold. "We’re just here to show you a slideshow."
Erica opened her portfolio, pulling out a stack of high-resolution photographic evidence and shipping manifests stamped with red federal audit seals.
"These are the secondary shipping manifests from the chop shop in Baltimore, Travis," Erica declared, sliding the papers across the desk. "The FBI’s Transportation Security Division seized forty-two counterfeit steering components from your warehouse two hours ago."
Travis stared at the documents, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. "This... this is a frame-up! My father will destroy you both!"
"Your father doesn't know the FBI is already standing outside his penthouse in Norfolk, Travis," Erica said, her dark eyes burning with absolute, triumphant victory. "We didn't just give them the financial logs. We gave them the physical evidence of criminal product tampering."
Travis dropped back into his leather chair, his arrogance entirely shattered, his face pale and sweating profusely.
"What... what do you want?" Travis choked out, looking desperately at Damon.

Damon looked down at the young man who had tried to ruin his life, feeling no vengeance—only the quiet, supreme satisfaction of justice served.
"We want you to dress nicely for tomorrow’s shareholder meeting, Travis," Damon said softly, tapping the mahogany desk with his knuckles. "Because you're going to give the performance of your life."
