Chapter 7 - The Restoration

One month later.
The central service bay of Redwood Automotive’s flagship facility in Richmond was transformed.
The old, cramped diagnostic stations had been replaced with state-of-the-art digital lift systems, pristine white floors, and bright LED lighting. High above the main entrance hung a massive new metal sign that read:
THE DAMON ELLIS SAFETY & INNOVATION CENTER
Over two hundred employees—mechanics in blue work shirts, sales staff, and executive directors—gathered near the main lift, holding glasses of champagne and sparkling cider.
Damon stood in his clean blue master technician uniform, holding hands with his daughter, Nia, who was wearing a pretty yellow dress, her face glowing with intense pride. Standing beside them was Monica, smiling warmly as she took photographs of her family.
Erica stepped up to the small wooden platform, holding a microphone.
"One month ago," Erica spoke to her employees, her voice filled with warmth and deep emotion, "this company remembered what true leadership looks like. Leadership isn't found in corporate titles or corner offices. It is found in the courage to do what is right when nobody is watching."
She looked directly at Damon.
"Damon Ellis saved this company's soul," Erica declared, raising her glass. "To Damon!"
"TO DAMON!" the entire crowd roared in unison, raising their glasses high into the air.
Damon smiled, stepping up to the microphone as the applause faded.
"I didn't save anything alone," Damon said, his rich voice echoing through the clean service bay. "It takes a team to keep machines running. And it takes a leader with real courage to admit a mistake and rebuild something better."
He looked at Erica, his gaze holding hers with an intense, quiet devotion that made everyone in the room smile.
"To Erica Rowan," Damon toasted softly. "The finest CEO this company will ever have."
As the crowd cheered once more, Nia pulled on her father’s sleeve, leaning up to whisper in his ear. "Dad... are you and Erica going to be boyfriend and girlfriend now?"
Damon flushed slightly, letting out a soft laugh as he looked at his daughter. "Go eat some cake, kiddo."
Nia giggled, running off toward the catering table with her mother.
Erica walked over to Damon, stepping close as the party continued around them.
"So," Erica smiled, resting her hands behind her back. "Chief Safety Officer Ellis. How does your new shop feel?"
"It feels complete," Damon answered, taking a step closer to her. "Except for one thing."
Erica raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
Damon reached out, his fingers gently brushing a stray lock of dark hair behind her ear, his thumb lingering softly against her cheek.
"My CEO works too many late shifts," Damon murmured softly. "I think she needs someone to drive her home."

Erica’s heart did a sudden, delicious flip inside her chest. "Is that an official safety recommendation, Officer Ellis?"
"It's a promise, Erica," Damon whispered, leaning down to press a soft, sweet kiss against her lips.
