Chapter 6 - The Grand Stage

The Norfolk Convention Center was bathed in bright, blinding television lights on Friday morning.

Over five hundred shareholders, regional dealership owners, automotive journalists, and corporate board members filled the grand ballroom, their chatter creating a deafening hum across the room.

At the center of the main stage stood a massive podium decorated with Redwood Automotive’s blue-and-silver logo.

Russell Bellamy sat in the front row of the executive section, wearing a sharp pinstripe suit, reviewing his speech notes with a smug, victorious smile. Sitting beside him was his son, Travis, who looked deathly pale, staring straight ahead at the stage without blinking.

At precisely 9:00 AM, the house lights dimmed.

Erica Rowan walked out onto the stage, dressed in a stunning navy blue dress, stepping up to the microphone with absolute, effortless grace.

The audience applauded politely.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen," Erica’s voice echoed through the high-powered speaker system, rich, commanding, and clear. "Welcome to the annual shareholder meeting of Redwood Automotive Holdings."

Russell Bellamy smirked, leaning back in his seat, expecting her to deliver her formal resignation speech as rehearsed.

"For eleven years," Erica continued, her eyes sweeping over the five hundred faces in the audience, "this company has been built on a single, unshakeable foundation: the safety and trust of the drivers who put their lives in our hands every single day."

She paused, looking directly at Russell Bellamy in the front row.

"Recently, however," Erica said, her voice dropping into an intense, quiet register that held the room spellbound, "certain members of our executive board believed that profit, pride, and personal greed could override that trust. They believed they could threaten this company, steal from its procurement accounts, and put counterfeit, dangerous components onto customer vehicles."

A shockwave of hushed whispers immediately rippled through the auditorium.

Russell Bellamy sat up straight, his face contorting in sudden, explosive anger. "What is she doing?!" he hissed to Travis. "Get her off that stage!"

Travis didn't move. He couldn't move.

"Five months ago," Erica announced, her voice booming through the speakers, "a master mechanic named Damon Ellis refused to sign a fraudulent safety waiver on a vehicle compromised by internal corporate theft. He was fired to protect a board member's corrupt son."

She looked toward the side wing of the stage.

"Today, I am proud to announce that Mr. Damon Ellis has been fully exonerated, reinstated, and appointed as the new Chief Operational Safety Officer of Redwood Automotive!"

The side doors opened, and Damon walked out onto the stage wearing a sharp tailored suit, his head held high, his presence radiating an unshakeable, noble authority.

The audience erupted into a mix of gasps, cheers, and furious shouts from board members.

"This is outrageous!" Russell Bellamy roared, jumping out of his seat and marching toward the stage steps. "Security! Arrest that woman! She has been terminated by board order!"

Before Russell could reach the stairs, two federal agents in dark suits stepped out from the side aisle, blocking his path.

"Russell Bellamy?" Special Agent Vance announced, pulling out a federal arrest warrant. "You and your son, Travis Bellamy, are under federal arrest for corporate racketeering, wire fraud, and criminal endangerment."

The ballroom descended into utter chaos as news cameras swarmed the front row, flashes blinding the crowd as steel handcuffs were clicked around Russell Bellamy’s wrists.

Travis offered no resistance as a second agent led him away, his head hung low in utter disgrace.

On stage, Erica stood beside Damon at the podium.

Damon looked down at her, his dark eyes filled with an overwhelming, profound respect. He reached out, taking her hand in front of five hundred shareholders and thirty news cameras, holding it tight.

Erica looked up at him, tears of joy shining in her eyes, smiling the brightest, most radiant smile of her life.
