Chapter 7 - The Master’s Oath

Three months later.
Spring had arrived in Chicago, turning the grounds of the Moretti Lakeside Estate into a lush, vibrant paradise of blooming cherry blossoms, green lawns, and singing birds.
The dark criminal enterprise that had once dragged the Moretti name through the mud had been completely restructured. Under Alessandro’s absolute, visionary leadership, the family’s holdings had been legally transitioned into international shipping logistics, maritime security, and philanthropic foundations.
In the sunlit master study on the second floor, Alessandro sat behind his mahogany desk, reviewing the final restructuring ledgers with Viktor.
“All Romano assets have been liquidated, boss,” Viktor reported proudly. “Over two hundred million dollars has been redirected into the Elena Reed Children’s Foundation, providing free medical care and education for underprivileged families across the state.”
“Good,” Alessandro nodded, signing his name in smooth, bold strokes at the bottom of the document. “And the household staff?”
“Mrs. Gable has been promoted to head estate manager,” Viktor smiled. “And the new security protocols around the perimeter are completely automated.”
A soft knock came at the door.
Mia ran through the doorway, wearing a bright yellow sundress and small white sneakers, holding a massive drawing she had made with crayons.
“Mr. Alessandro! Look!” Mia cheered, jumping up and down beside his desk.
Alessandro immediately set his pen down, a bright, warm smile lighting up his face as he picked the four-year-old girl up and set her on his knee.
“What do we have here, little artist?” Alessandro asked, looking at the drawing with genuine fascination.
“It’s a picture of our family!” Mia announced proudly, pointing her small finger at the colorful shapes. “That’s you with your blue eyes, that’s Mommy in her pretty dress, that’s me with my yellow flashlight, and that’s a big house with a huge dog!”
Alessandro looked at the drawing, a deep, profound warmth swelling in his chest.
Elena walked into the study, wearing a stunning lavender dress that complimented her soft hazel eyes. She leaned against the side of the desk, looking at her husband and daughter with an expression of complete, unadulterated happiness.
Alessandro reached out and pulled Elena gently into his side, wrapping his broad arm around her waist.
“What do you think, Elena?” Alessandro asked softly, looking up at his wife. “Should we get the big dog Mia drew?”
Elena laughed, a light, beautiful sound that filled the room like music. “Only if you promise to help walk him in the morning, Mr. Moretti.”
May you like
Alessandro stood up, holding Mia in one arm while pulling Elena firmly against his chest with the other. He looked out the large floor-to-ceiling windows toward the sparkling blue expanse of Lake Michigan.
“I promise,” Alessandro murmured, kissing Elena’s lips gently before kissing Mia’s forehead. “I promise to give you both everything in this world, for the rest of my life.”
