Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

Five years flew by with the speed of a passing train, bringing monumental changes to the Moretti estate.
The drafty, forgotten west wing was now the loudest, brightest part of the mansion, filled with teenage laughter, college acceptance letters, and the vibrant energy of six growing kids who never had to worry about where their next meal was coming from.
Daniel was now a freshman at the University of Chicago, studying pre-law with the fierce determination to protect others the way I had once protected him. Lucas had discovered a genius-level talent for software engineering, spending hours in Victor’s private tech labs. The twins were state-level track champions, and Mia was the undisputed star of every school play. Noah, now nine years old, had grown into a sharp, joyful boy who looked so much like his father that people frequently mistook old photographs of Victor for him.
And me?
I stood in the center of the grand ballroom of the Moretti estate, wearing an elegant floor-length emerald silk dress, holding a leather-bound high school diploma in one hand and an acceptance letter to Harvard University in the other.
Tonight wasn't just my high school graduation party; it was a celebration of everything we had built together. The guest list was filled with close friends, trusted advisors, and people who had watched us grow from broken shadows into a thriving family.
Victor walked up behind me, wearing a classic black tuxedo, his hair touched with silver at the temples, looking every bit the proud father. He placed his hands gently on my shoulders, turning me around to face him.
"Look at you," Victor whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "Eighteen years old. Valedictorian of your class. Headed to Harvard in the fall."
"I had a good teacher," I smiled, stepping forward to wrap my arms around his waist.
Victor held me tight, resting his chin on the top of my head, just as he had done in the quiet, terrifying days after we first met in that dark basement on Harrison Street.
"You didn't just survive, Olivia," Victor murmured into my hair. "You conquered the world. And you did it with grace, courage, and a heart bigger than any empire I ever built."
Across the ballroom, Noah, Daniel, Lucas, Emma, Ava, and Mia rushed over, piling on top of us in a massive, laughing group hug that nearly knocked Victor and me off our feet.

I looked out over the sparkling ballroom, through the towering glass windows that looked out across the manicured gardens and the grand iron gates. The past was a distant country, a dark chapter that had tested our limits, but it had ultimately forged a bond that nothing in this world could ever break.
We weren't just survivors anymore. We were the Morettis. And our circle would never, ever be broken.
