Chapter 5 - The Corporate Storm

The arrival of six children and a thirteen-year-old foster hero at the Moretti estate sent shockwaves through the Chicago high-society and corporate circles within forty-eight hours.

Reporters camped outside the wrought-iron gates, long-lens cameras flashing furiously whenever a delivery truck entered the grounds. Gossip columns speculated wildly: Is the ruthless billionaire hiding a secret family? Who is the mysterious teenage girl living in the Moretti mansion?

Victor handled the media with the surgical precision of a grandmaster. He called a sudden, unannounced press conference in the grand auditorium of Moretti Global headquarters, standing behind a podium flanked by his top legal counsel and public relations team.

Flashbulbs illuminated the massive hall. Dozens of microphones broadcasted his words live across the nation.

"I am aware of the rumors circulating regarding my private life," Victor began, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "Let me state the facts clearly. Twelve years ago, a terrible misunderstanding separated me from the woman I loved, Elena Russo. I was unaware until two nights ago that she gave birth to my son, Noah, and became the guardian to five other displaced children."

A collective gasp swept through the press corps. Microphones scratched as journalists scrambled to shout questions.

"Mr. Moretti! Are these children legally yours?" shouted a reporter from the Chicago Tribune.

Victor raised a hand, silencing the room instantly. "DNA verification has confirmed Noah is my son. Furthermore, the remaining five children—Daniel, Lucas, Emma, Ava, and Mia—have been formally adopted into the Moretti family under my legal custody. But more importantly, I want to address the hero of this story."

Victor paused, looking directly into the primary camera lens, knowing I was watching the livestream from the west wing projection room.

"For the past seven months, a thirteen-year-old girl named Olivia Hart worked as a house assistant in my home," Victor continued, his voice softening with deep, public reverence. "She did her job with flawless grace while secretly working day and night to feed, clothe, and protect my children in an abandoned basement across the city. While I was building an empire, Olivia was building a family. She taught me what true leadership, sacrifice, and unconditional love look like. From this day forward, Olivia Hart is my daughter in every way that matters. Any outlet that prints a false word about her or my children will face the full, unyielding force of my legal team."

The silence in the press room lasted for three seconds before absolute chaos erupted. But Victor didn't answer another question. He turned away from the podium, stepped off the stage, and walked straight to his waiting car.
