Chapter 10 - A WORTHY FUTURE

Three years later.
The morning sun filtered through the high glass windows of a cozy seaside cottage on the coast of Massachusetts. The air smelled of salt, blooming jasmine, and fresh coffee.
Out on the green lawn overlooking the ocean, a small three-year-old girl with bright dark eyes was chasing a golden retriever puppy across the grass.
"Slow down, Arthur!" Eleanor called out with a warm laugh, sitting on the wooden porch in a rocking chair, knitting a tiny pink sweater.
"She's fine, Mom," Ethan said with a laugh, stepping out onto the porch holding two mugs of coffee. He handed one to his mother and leaned against the railing, watching his daughter play.
Clara stepped out behind him, wrapping her arms around Ethan’s waist and resting her head against his back. Ethan turned around, kissing her softly on the lips. Their marriage two years prior had been a quiet, intimate ceremony surrounded only by true friends and family—a stark contrast to the grand, hollow wedding he had once planned with Camille.
"The morning reports came in," Clara said softly, pulling a small tablet from her pocket. "The foundation just opened its tenth community clinic in Chicago. Everything is fully funded."
"Good," Ethan smiled, pulling her closer into his embrace. "That's where the money belongs."
Far away in a state correctional facility, Camille Harcourt sat in a small library, staring out a barred window at a gray, dusty courtyard. Her sentences were long, her former wealth entirely gone, and her name erased from high society. No one visited her. No one wrote to her. She was a forgotten footnote in a story she had once thought she controlled.
Back on the coast, the sun climbed higher into the sky, bathing the seaside porch in brilliant gold light.
Little Arthur ran up the porch steps, giggling loudly, and tumbled safely into Ethan’s open arms. Ethan lifted his daughter high into the air, her laughter ringing out across the quiet ocean breeze.

Eleanor rocked gently in her chair, watching her son, her daughter-in-law, and her granddaughter flourish under the bright blue sky.
The past was gone. The tears had dried. Justice was served, and love had conquered all.
