Chapter 9 - THE NEW GALA

One year after the notorious incident at the winter garden, the Vance Global Annual Charity Gala took place.
The setting was completely different from the previous year. There were no arrogant socialites judging guests by their attire, no gold candle holders thrown into fountains, and no cold ambition masking cruelty.
The event was held at the newly restored Eleanor Vance Community Center. The guests included local community leaders, hard-working employees, doctors, international investors, and humble families whose lives had been transformed by the foundation.
Ethan stood on the main stage, wearing a sharp, tailored black tuxedo. Beside him sat Eleanor, surrounded by vibrant white roses—not scattered in water, but blooming proudly in beautiful brass vases.

"Real power," Ethan continued, "is not measured by how many people you can push down. It is measured by how many people you choose to lift up. Tonight, we celebrate not a shipping deal, not a corporate acquisition, but a simple truth: dignity is priceless."
The room erupted into thunderous applause. Investors, workers, and guests stood up in unison, honoring Eleanor Vance.
Among the crowd, Clara stood clapping warmly, her eyes meeting Ethan's across the room. Ethan walked down from the stage, bypassing the wealthy donors, and walked straight over to Clara, taking her hand gently in his.

Clara smiled, her touch genuine and warm. "I wouldn't be anywhere else, Ethan."
