Chapter 5 - The Financial Audit

The sun rose over Dallas the next morning, casting golden rays across the sprawling lawn of our estate. But the calm morning air couldn't mask the storm brewing in the corporate and legal offices of Cross Global Holdings.

By 8:00 AM sharp, Julian sat behind his massive mahogany desk in his downtown corporate headquarters, flanked by his chief corporate counsel and a senior forensic accountant.

On the desk sat three thick binders detailing the financial transactions of the household trust over the past five years—accounts that Margaret and Jennifer had managed while Julian was abroad.

"Mr. Cross," Sarah Jenkins, the firm’s senior forensic litigator, said grimly, adjusting her glasses as she slid a summary report across the desk. "We’ve completed an initial audit of the discretionary spending accounts managed by your mother and sister. The findings are... extensive."

Julian’s eyes scanned the document, his expression darkening with every line. "Explain."

"Over the last sixty months, approximately 2.4 million dollars intended for household maintenance, medical reserves, and Emma’s living expenses was systematically diverted," Sarah stated professionally. "Over six hundred thousand was used to purchase downtown retail properties registered under shell corporations owned by Jennifer and her husband. Another four hundred thousand went toward luxury vehicle leases and high-end jewelry purchases for your mother."

Julian’s fist clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. "And the rest?"

"Embezzled through fabricated vendor invoices, fake catering retainers, and ghost employees on family payroll," Sarah continued, tapping a finger against the audit trail. "Furthermore, because your mother held your power of attorney for domestic management, she legally structured several asset transfers that we can challenge, but it will require immediate litigation."

"I don't care about the cost, Sarah," Julian said, his voice cold and resolute. "I want every single asset frozen by noon. I want civil lawsuits filed against my mother, my sister, and my brother for fraud, embezzlement, and breach of fiduciary trust. And if any of those asset transfers cross into criminal territory, I want federal indictments on their desks by the end of the week."

Sarah blinked in surprise, though she quickly nodded in agreement. "Understood, Mr. Cross. We will initiate emergency injunctions immediately."

Julian stood up, buttoning his suit jacket. "Make sure they understand one thing before we hit them with the paperwork. I am not offering a settlement. I am not offering a mediation. They declared war on my wife in my own home, and they are going to learn what happens when you steal from a man who has nothing left to lose."
