Chapter 8 - The Purge of Chicago

By 5:00 AM, the Rossi estate had transformed into a war room.

The heavy oak doors of the grand hall were locked. Inside stood forty of Vincent’s most loyal capos, lieutenants, and enforcers. At the head of the long mahogany table sat Vincent, his face a terrifying mask of absolute, murderous calm.

To his right sat Chloe.

She no longer looked like a guest or an outsider. She wore a tailored black suit, her hands resting calmly on the polished table, her gold-flecked eyes scanning the men in the room with icy composure.

Standing near the foot of the table was Frank Vance.

He was pale, sweating profusely, trying desperately to maintain his nonchalant posture. "Vincent... thank God you made it out! It was a tragedy, an absolute tragedy! Marcone must have had a tracker on the trucks!"

Vincent didn't speak. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small digital recorder, and set it on the table.

He pressed play.

Frank Vance’s own voice echoed through the silent room, detailing the exact location, timing, and security layout of the rail yard shipment to Dante Marcone.

The room erupted into shocked, furious roars. Several capos reached for their weapons.

"It's a fake!" Vance shrieked, backing away toward the door, only to find Mateo’s massive frame blocking his path. "It's a setup! You can't trust an audio file! Who gave you that?!"

Vincent slowly turned his head to look at Chloe.

Chloe stood up. Her voice was clear, crisp, and carried total authority across the grand hall.

"The file was routed through a dead-drop server in Toronto, Mr. Vance," Chloe said smoothly. "You used your daughter's encrypted laptop to send it, thinking the Rossi network couldn't trace a secondary IP. But before I was a nursing student, I worked two years in medical billing systems. I know how to trace hidden digital trails."

She dropped a stack of printed financial logs onto the table.

"Three million dollars cleared your offshore account in Grand Cayman two hours ago," Chloe added coldly. "Paid by Marcone Enterprises."

Vance collapsed onto his knees, his face completely drained of color. "Vincent... please! We were brothers! My father served yours!"

Vincent stood up slowly. He didn't look angry; he looked like judgment itself.

"You sold my life," Vincent said softly. "And worse... you put my wife in danger."

He gestured to Mateo. "Take him to the basement. Call his daughter. Strip the Vance family of every asset, every title, every dollar. They leave Chicago by noon, or they don't leave at all."

As Vance was dragged out of the room, screaming for mercy, the remaining capos stood up, bowing their heads respectfully toward the head of the table.

Vincent looked at his men, then turned to Chloe. He reached out, taking her hand, and raised her to stand beside him.

"This is Chloe Rossi," Vincent declared, his voice booming through the hall. "She took four bullets for my mother. She stitched my flesh. She uncovered the traitor, and she saved my life at the rail yards. From this moment on, her word is my word. Her command is my command. If any man in this room disrespects her, he answers to me."

The capos raised their glasses, their voices echoing in unison through the estate.

"HAIL MRS. ROSSI!"
