Chapter 6 - The Infiltration
In the utter chaos that followed the bell ringing, Margaret panicked. She excused herself from the dining hall, hurrying toward her private study to check the secure terminal that monitored the vault locks.
Evelyn followed her silently like a shadow.
As Margaret unlocked her private study door, Sam stepped out from a dark alcove and cut the main circuit breaker for the west wing.
The lights plunged into pitch darkness.
Margaret gasped, reaching into her purse for a flashlight. "Walter? Is that you?"
Evelyn moved swiftly and silently. Years of maneuvering around the mansion without making a sound allowed her to glide behind Margaret in the dark. With a swift, practiced movement, Evelyn reached out and snatched the silver master key card hanging from the chain around Margaret’s neck.
"Hey! Who's there?!" Margaret shrieked, swinging her heavy purse wildly in the dark.
Evelyn didn't answer. She slipped out of the room, blending seamlessly into the darkness just as Sam restored the emergency generator power.

When the lights flickered back on, Margaret touched her bare neck, realizing the master key card was gone.
"SECURITY!" Margaret screamed, her voice echoing down the corridor. "LOCK DOWN THE ESTATE! SOMEONE IS IN THE HOUSE!"
