Chapter 10 - The Triumph of the Will

The sun began to set, casting a golden, warm glow over the Sterling Sanctuary. The guests had gone, and only my family remained in the courtyard.
We sat around a stone fire pit, the crackling flames warming the cool evening air. I looked at my four children.
Liam, who was preparing to enter medical school in the fall, determined to follow in my footsteps. Emma, whose brilliant legal mind had helped dismantle the Vance empire, now studying corporate law. Noah, who had inherited my love for research, spending his afternoons in our new labs. And Maya, who was simply happy, her childhood restored.
They had tried to destroy me. They thought that by stripping me of my mobility, my home, and my dignity, they could erase me. But they forgot that a mother’s love is the most powerful force on earth. It is a force that can heal shattered bones, mend broken spirits, and rewrite destiny.
I stood up from my chair, stepping away from the fire. I walked to the edge of the courtyard, looking out over the beautiful sanctuary we had built.
I looked down at my legs. They were strong, steady, and beautiful.
