Chapter 6 - The Fall of Manhattan's King

BANG!
The gunshot echoed wildly within the high-ceilinged room.
Sienna didn't feel pain. Instead, she was violently yanked backward as the heavy mahogany doors burst inward. Damian collided with Holloway over the desk, slamming the older man into the glass bookcase with terrifying force!
The pistol clattered onto the Persian rug. Damian grabbed Holloway by his lapels, his face a mask of absolute, unadulterated fury, and slammed him repeatedly into the wall until Holloway dropped to his knees, gasping for air and coughing blood.
"Damian!" Sienna called out, catching her breath as Nico stepped into the room, kicking the gun safely out of reach.
Damian stopped, his breathing heavy, his knuckles bruised. He turned around, his eyes wild with terror as he swept his gaze over Sienna. "Are you hit? Sienna, talk to me!"
"I’m okay!" Sienna said, showing him the bullet hole in the heavy oak desk behind where she had been standing. "He missed!"
Damian rushed over, pulling her tightly into his arms, kissing her forehead, her cheeks, her hair, his entire body trembling with the fear of almost losing her. "Thank God... thank God..."
Nico picked up the hardware token from Holloway’s neck and plugged it into a tablet. "Data transfer is one hundred percent complete, Boss. We have the full wire transfer logs, the hit orders, and the signed offshore accounts. Federal prosecutors just received the package."
Downstairs, the distant sound of police sirens began to echo through the streets of Manhattan.
Holloway, slumping against the wall, looked up at Damian and Sienna with blood dripping from his mouth. "You think... you think you won?" he wheezed. "The syndicate... they’ll kill you both... you won't survive a week..."
Damian walked over, looking down at his defeated enemy with cold, unyielding disdain. "The syndicate already knows you lost their fifty million dollars tonight, Garrett. They won't be coming after us. They’ll be making sure you never speak in court."
Two minutes later, federal agents and NYPD officers swarmed the room, hauling Garrett Holloway away in handcuffs past the shocked, staring crowd of Manhattan’s elite gathered in the Grand Hall below.

As Holloway was dragged out into the rain, Sienna stood on the museum steps beside Damian, watching the flashing red and blue lights paint the midnight sky.
For the first time in two years, the crushing weight on her chest lifted. Caleb was avenged. His name was clean. The nightmare was finally over.
