Chapter 6 - The Unstoppable Storm

The dojo fell into absolute, stunned silence as Holland stepped onto the center mat, her black belt trailing against her thighs.

Marcus Cruz laughed nervously, trying to cover his sudden hesitation with bravado. "You're arrogant, kid. I'm going to break your ribs."

"Round one! Full contact to the body, kicks to the head allowed!" Graham announced, his voice tense as he took his place as referee. "Fight!"

Marcus charged instantly. He was a powerhouse fighter, relying on heavy, swinging hooks and forward pressure to crush opponents against the edge of the mat. He unleashed a terrifying three-punch combination aimed directly at Holland’s chest and stomach.

Phat! Phat! Phat!

Holland didn't retreat.

In Kyokushin, the core philosophy is Osu—perseverance under pressure. You do not step back; you stand your ground and absorb the storm until your opponent shatters against you.

Holland hardened her abdominal core, absorbing Marcus's heavy strikes like a oak tree taking the hit of a rubber mallet. Her body didn't even rock backward.

Marcus’s eyes widened in sheer horror as he felt the impact of his own fists bouncing off her stomach as if hitting solid iron. "What the—?"

"My turn," Holland whispered.

She stepped inside his guard, her frame sliding into his chest space where he couldn't generate punching power. Then, she opened her arsenal.

Thump-thump-thump-thump!

Her hands moved in a terrifying blur. She delivered a rapid-fire sequence of short, devastating body strikes—shovel hooks to the ribs, palm strikes to the sternum, and double lower-body liver punches (seiken tsuki). The sound was like a jackhammer smashing into wet cement.

Marcus let out a ragged, wheezing gasp as the air was violently forced from his lungs. His face turned bright purple.

"Step back!" Victor screamed from the sidelines, his face pale. "Marcus, step back and kick!"

Marcus tried to retreat, his legs trembling like jelly. But Holland followed him like a shadow, maintaining absolute control over the distance. She planted her left foot, rotated her hips with explosive power, and unleashed a high wheel kick (ushiro mawashi geri).

Her heel whipped through the air, stopping with absolute, feather-light precision right against Marcus’s temple. She didn't drive it through—she merely tapped his skin to demonstrate total control.

Marcus dropped to both knees, gasping for oxygen, clutching his ribs, his hands slapping the mat in frantic surrender.

Elapsed time: Forty-two seconds.

Holland dropped her leg, stood tall, and bowed to her collapsed opponent. "Osu."

Victor stood frozen, his mouth open, his toothpick dropping onto the floor.

Holland turned her cold blue eyes toward Victor. "Is your brother the best your gym has to offer?"

Victor couldn't speak. The entire Coastal Athletics dojo exploded into thunderous applause and cheers. Trent, sitting on the bench, found himself cheering loudest of all, his former resentment completely swallowed by sheer awe for the fourteen-year-old master standing before them.
