Six months later, the penthouse was filled with the sound of laughter, music, and the warmth of true family.
Abby’s father, fully recovered and walking with strength, danced proudly with her in the grand ballroom. Her brother, now a certified nurse working at the top children’s hospital funded by the Cross Foundation, laughed alongside colleagues who respected him for his own merits.
Abby stood on the balcony of the penthouse, looking out over the glittering city skyline. The rain outside was just rain now—it didn't leak through any walls. Her life was secure, her family was safe, and her heart was completely full.
Julian stepped out onto the balcony, wrapping a warm cashmere shawl around her shoulders and pulling her close against his chest.
“Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Cross?” he whispered against her hair.
Abby leaned back into his embrace, looking down at the sparkling diamond on her hand, and then up at the stars above.
