“I spent my whole life testing people because I was afraid to trust,” Julian confessed, turning her gently to face him. “I wanted proof that everyone had a price. But the only price I care about now is the one I can never pay back—the gift of your love, your strength, and your heart.”
Abby looked up into his eyes, seeing a man who had stripped away all his armor, leaving only raw, honest vulnerability.
The memories of the past—the struggles, the debt, the cold winter nights in their leaking apartment—flashed through her mind. But they didn't hurt anymore. They were the scars that had led her right here.
