Chapter 6 - Venom of the Matriarch

In a private, mahogany-paneled office in the exclusive Santa Fe district, Doña Teresa Robles paced like a caged tiger.

Her expensive gold gown from her birthday party had been replaced by a sleek black business suit. Standing near the window was Raúl Garza, a slick, sharp-eyed attorney in his late fifties, sipping dark whiskey from a heavy crystal glass.

“He froze all my personal accounts!” Teresa raged, slamming her manicured palm onto the marble desk. “My credit cards were declined at the salon this morning! Do you have any idea how embarrassing that is? Me! Doña Teresa Robles!”

“Calm down, Teresa,” Garza said smoothly, swirling his glass. “Alejandro is acting out of emotional shock. He found the girl, he’s emotional. But emotions make men weak and predictable.”

“He has the old chauffeur, Eusebio!” Teresa yelled, her face twisted with bitter anxiety. “If Eusebio testifies, if he produces any records of what we did three years ago—”

“Eusebio is an old man with no legal standing,” Garza interrupted coldly. “A good lawyer can destroy his credibility in five minutes. We frame him as a disgraced former employee looking for a payout. As for Lucía… she has no money, no connections, and no legal proof. A public hospital record doesn't prove who threw her out of the house.”

Teresa narrowed her eyes. “What about Alejandro? He is stripping my power from Robles Construction. He’s calling an emergency board meeting for tomorrow morning to officially vote me out.”

Garza smiled dangerously, pulling a thick leather folder from his briefcase and laying it on the table.

“He can’t vote you out if he isn't CEO anymore,” Garza said darkly. “I’ve been speaking with Eduardo Navarro, your son’s primary corporate rival at Navarro Holdings.”

Teresa paused, looking interested. “Navarro? Alejandro’s biggest competitor?”

“Precisely,” Garza explained with a sinister grin. “Navarro has been quietly buying shares of Robles Construction through offshore entities. Together with your remaining board shares, you and Navarro hold fifty-one percent of the company’s stock voting power.”

Teresa’s lips curled into a wicked, triumphant smile. “So at tomorrow’s board meeting…”

“At tomorrow’s board meeting,” Garza finished, “we stage a corporate coup. We remove Alejandro as Chief Executive Officer on the grounds of mental instability and gross breach of fiduciary duty. We seize control of his assets, freeze his corporate accounts, and force him out. Once he has no money and no power, Lucía and that brat will mean nothing.”

Teresa laughed—a dry, bitter sound that held no joy, only cold malice. “My son thought he could challenge me. It’s time he learns who really built the Robles name.”
