Chapter 9 - NEW BEGINNINGS

One year later.
The Aldgate Maritime Logistics Group had officially transitioned its operational model. Callum had systematically divested from all high-risk shadow contracts, refocusing the entire corporate portfolio on humanitarian supply chains, eco-friendly deep-water freight, and international medical transport.
The company's new headquarters in downtown Boston was a masterpiece of modern glass architecture, overlooking the harbor where Callum’s ships came and went.
On the top floor, a special ceremonial event was taking place.
Callum stood at a mahogany podium, flanked by Nadia, June, and several civic leaders. Seated in the front row were Marcos, Petra, and Marcus Vance.
"Today," Callum announced into the microphone, his voice echoing warmly across the packed auditorium, "Donovan Commercial and the Aldgate Group are proud to unveil our joint philanthropic venture: The Solis Foundation for Neurodivergent Youth."
The audience erupted into loud applause.
Nadia stepped up to the podium beside Callum, holding his hand tightly.
"Our foundation," Nadia spoke clearly, her voice filled with deep passion, "will fund specialized educational programs, sensory-friendly community centers, and career placement networks for neurodivergent children and young adults across New England. We believe that every mind sees the world differently, and that within those differences lie extraordinary strengths."
She looked down at the front row, where Petra was sitting quietly beside Marcos. Petra was wearing a lovely pale blue dress, holding her tiny wooden butterfly carving that Callum had crafted for her in his workshop.
When the ceremony concluded, guests gathered around the reception hall to celebrate.
Marcos walked up to Nadia, giving his mother a warm, tight hug. "I'm really proud of you, Mom."
"Thank you, sweetheart," Nadia said, kissing his cheek. "How are your computer science classes going?"
"I got an A on my final project," Marcos said proudly. "Mr. Vance helped me debug my network security code."
"Marcus is a good teacher," Nadia smiled, looking over at Marcus Vance, who was currently attempting to explain maritime chess strategies to June.
Callum walked over, handing Nadia a glass of sparkling cider. "A toast," Callum said, raising his glass. "To the future."
"To the future," Nadia echoed, clinking her glass against his.
Petra stepped up beside them, tugging gently on Nadia's dress.
Nadia kneeled down. "Yes, Petra?"
Petra reached into her small purse and pulled out a small, printed card. It was an official foundation badge with Petra’s photograph on it, reading: PETRA ALDGATE – CHIEF OBSERVATION OFFICER.
Nadia’s eyes filled with joyful tears. "Chief Observation Officer? That is a very important title."

"It means my job is to make sure everyone tells the truth," Petra explained seriously. "And I checked the foundation papers. There are no lies in them."
Callum laughed, kneeling down beside Nadia and pulling Petra into their warm embrace. "No lies, Chief Officer. Not a single one."
