Chapter 8 - The Blood Coronation

The Great Hall of the Blackwood Manor was a masterpiece of dark mahogany, stained glass, and blazing marble fireplaces.
Over two hundred high-ranking members of the syndicate, international syndicate leaders, politicians, and judges stood along the perimeter of the room, whispering in hushed tones. The air was thick with tension, expensive perfume, and the faint scent of cigar smoke.
At the far end of the room stood a raised dais with a high-backed black velvet throne.
Standing beside the throne was Adrian, looking terrifyingly regal in a midnight-black tuxedo, his silver eyes scanning the crowd with cold precision. Behind him stood Julian and twenty elite guards.
Grace stood in the gallery above the hall, watching through a wrought-iron railing, holding her breath. Beside her, Ethan stood proudly, holding a small velvet box containing the Blackwood family crest ring.
"Presenting the High Council of the Eastern Syndicate!" a herald announced loudly.
The heavy double doors of the hall swung open.
Marcus Vance walked into the room, flanked by four of his top enforcers. He wore a arrogant smile, looking around the room as if he already owned it.
"Adrian!" Vance called out, his voice echoing across the high ceilings. "A grand party for a boy nobody knew existed until four days ago! Tell us... is this child really a Blackwood, or did you just find a street orphan with silver eyes to secure your vote on the Council?!"
A collective gasp echoed through the crowd.
Adrian didn't move an inch. A faint, deadly smile touched his lips.
"Bring the boy down," Adrian ordered softly.
Julian bowed, gesturing to the gallery above.
Grace took Ethan’s hand, leading him down the grand spiral staircase into the main hall. Every eye in the room turned toward them.
Ethan walked with his head held high, his silver eyes shining brightly under the chandelier lights, his small hand tucked securely into Grace’s.
When they reached the dais, Adrian stepped down, kneeling on one knee before his son.
"Ethan," Adrian said, his voice carrying clearly across the silent hall. "Do you know what this ring represents?"
Ethan looked at the heavy silver ring inside the velvet box. "It means I have your blood, Dad. And it means I have to be brave."
"That's right," Adrian whispered, taking the small ring and sliding it onto a silver chain, which he gently placed around Ethan’s neck. "It means you are a Blackwood. And as long as I draw breath, no one in this room, or on this earth, will ever touch you."
Adrian stood up, pulling Ethan up to stand beside him on the dais. He placed a hand on his son’s shoulder and looked out over the crowd.
"This is Ethan Blackwood," Adrian roared, his voice echoing like thunder. "My son. My sole heir. Any act of aggression against him will be treated as an act of war against the entire Blackwood empire!"
The hall burst into thunderous applause as syndicate leaders bowed their heads in respect.
Only Marcus Vance remained standing still, his eyes burning with absolute hatred.

Suddenly, Vance reached into his coat pocket.
"He's a bastard!" Vance screamed, pulling a sleek chrome revolver from his jacket. "And the Blackwood line ends tonight!"
