Chapter 5 - The Public Execution

The war between the Vale Network and the Raines Syndicate did not take place with chaotic gunfights on public streets. Adrian Vale fought his wars with surgical, terrifying precision.
Over the next three weeks, using the data from Nia’s flash drive combined with his vast financial network, Adrian launched a multi-front assault on Raines’ operations.
First, Adrian bought out the primary bank holding the mortgages on Harbor Point Community Clinic. Within twenty-four hours, he issued an emergency foreclosure notice, evicting the corrupt management team and placing the clinic under federal receivership.
Second, Adrian’s cyber teams leaked the offshore banking records of Raines’ organ-harvesting ring directly to the FBI’s Public Corruption Division and the Department of Justice.
By Thursday morning, federal agents executed simultaneous search warrants across twelve luxury properties owned by Raines’ syndicate. Fourteen high-ranking corrupt doctors, judges, and city administrators were dragged out of their homes in handcuffs in front of live news cameras.
The public narrative completely inverted.
The news broadcasts that had once branded Nia Whitaker as a "fugitive embezzler" were now forced to report the truth:
"HERO NURSE EXPOSES MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR BLACK-MARKET MEDICAL RING: NIA WHITAKER PLACED UNDER FEDERAL PROTECTION."
In his heavily guarded safehouse in South Seattle, Victor Raines watched the news broadcast with bloodshot eyes. His assets were frozen, his political allies were in federal holding cells, and his own lieutenants were abandoning him to save their own skins.
"It was Vale!" Raines screamed, slamming his fist onto the table. "He used the girl's data to destroy my entire foundation! Where is he hiding her?!"
Brody, his face bruised from their previous encounter with Adrian’s men, stepped forward nervously. "Sir... Vale’s estate on Mercer Island is an iron fortress. We can't get near it. But..."
"But what?!" Raines snarled.

"Nia Whitaker’s younger brother, Ethan... he just landed at Seattle-Tacoma Airport from college in California," Brody whispered, a sinister grin spreading across his scarred face. "He doesn't know what's happening yet."
Raines’ eyes lit up with desperate, psychotic malice. "Get the boy. If Vale wants to play hero for that nurse, let's see how much he's willing to trade for her brother's life."
