Chapter 7 - The Battle of Warehouse 14

The sky over the Port of Seattle was gray and heavy with impending rain as Marcus drove a single black sedan through the iron gates of Warehouse 14.
Inside the sedan sat Nia and Adrian. Behind them, hidden in shipping containers and on the rooftops surrounding the warehouse, thirty of Adrian’s top tactical operators were already in position, equipped with night-vision scopes and suppressed weapons.
The heavy steel doors of Warehouse 14 were open. Inside, under the dim yellow glare of industrial work lights, Ethan Whitaker was tied to a wooden chair, his mouth taped shut, a bruised cut over his right eye.
Standing beside him was Victor Raines, holding a heavy silver revolver, flanked by ten heavily armed syndicate thugs.
Nia stepped out of the car first, holding a small metal case containing the decoy flash drive files.
"Ethan!" Nia called out, her heart breaking at the sight of her terrified younger brother.
Ethan shook his head frantically against his gags, tears streaming down his face.
Raines stepped forward, pointing his revolver directly at Nia's chest. "Where is Vale?! I told you to come alone!"
The driver's door opened, and Adrian Vale stepped out into the dim light of the warehouse. He wore a dark suit, completely unarmed, walking with slow, deliberate authority.
Raines let out a hysterical laugh. "You actually came, Vale! You brought yourself right into my kill zone!"
"You don't have a kill zone, Victor," Adrian said calmly, stopping ten feet away from Raines. "You have a coffin."
"Shut up!" Raines screamed, raising his gun toward Adrian’s head. "I have the leverage here! I drop both of you right now, take the drive, and disappear on a cargo freighter to South America!"
Adrian looked at his watch. "It’s 4:02 PM, Victor."
"So what?!" Raines yelled.
"So," Adrian said, looking up into the shadows of the warehouse rafters, "my snipers have had red laser dots painted on your chest and the back of your men's heads for the last five minutes."
Suddenly, dozens of bright red laser points appeared across Raines’ suit jacket and the foreheads of his ten lieutenants.
Raines froze, his blood running bone cold.
"Drop your weapons," Adrian commanded, his voice echoing through the massive concrete building. "Or die where you stand."
The ten syndicate thugs, realizing they were completely surrounded by invisible snipers, instantly dropped their rifles and handguns onto the concrete floor, raising their hands in total surrender.
"You cowards!" Raines shrieked, panicking. He grabbed Ethan, pulling the young boy in front of him as a human shield, aiming his revolver at Ethan’s temple. "I’ll kill him! I swear to God I’ll shoot him!"
Before Raines could pull the trigger, a sharp gunshot echoed through the warehouse—not from the rafters, but from Adrian’s hand.
Adrian had pulled a concealed, ultra-compact pistol from his sleeve in a fraction of a second. The round struck Raines’ right wrist with surgical precision.
Raines screamed in agony as his silver revolver flew from his hand, shattering on the concrete. Ethan tumbled forward, free of his captor.

Nia rushed forward, grabbing her brother and pulling him behind the safety of Adrian’s body.
Raines fell onto his knees, clutching his bleeding wrist, sobbing in pain and total defeat.
