Chapter 9 - The Garden of Peace

Two years later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the rolling green hills of the Blackwood Estate in Greenwich. The gardens were blooming with thousands of white lilies, red roses, and lavender, filling the warm air with a sweet, peaceful fragrance.
On the stone terrace overlooking the private lake, a large white wooden dining table was set for a family celebration.
Arthur Blackwood sat at the head of the table, sipping a glass of iced tea, laughing as three-year-old Leo ran across the lawn, chasing a golden retriever puppy.
Vivian sat beside Julian Mercer, holding his hand. Six months ago, they had been married in a small, private ceremony on this very terrace. Julian was everything Adrian had never been: humble, brilliant, deeply loving, and endlessly devoted to both Vivian and little Leo, whom he loved as his own son.
"Look, Mommy!" Leo giggled, running up to the table, holding a slightly messy, hand-picked yellow flower. "I picked a rose for you!"
Vivian leaned down, pulling her sweet, healthy boy into her arms, kissing his warm cheeks as he laughed.
"Thank you, my sweet lion," Vivian smiled, placing the flower carefully in her hair.
Julian wrapped an arm around Vivian’s shoulders, pulling her close against his chest. "He’s getting fast, Vivian. Soon he’ll be running the family company."
"He has time," Vivian smiled, leaning her head on Julian’s shoulder, feeling the deep, steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
Arthur raised his glass, looking at his daughter, his son-in-law, and his grandson with deep, complete satisfaction.

"To family," Arthur toasted, his voice rich and full of love. "To the strength that protects us, and the love that carries us forward."
"To family," Vivian and Julian repeated, clinking their glasses together under the golden sunshine.
