Chapter 9 - The Promise on the Coast

Julian looked into Sienna’s dark eyes, his expression completely serious, filled with a deep, quiet devotion that made her world stand still.
He opened the box.
Inside sat an exquisite, antique oval-cut sapphire ring surrounded by delicate diamond laurels—the exact ring Harrison Vale had custom-designed thirty years ago for Sienna’s mother, a piece that had been held safely in the Vale Trust vault for two decades.
"Julian..." Sienna whispered, her hand rising to her lips.
"Sienna," Julian spoke, his voice low and rich with emotion. "Six years ago, I let you slip away because I was afraid of fighting a war against Damon’s lies. I promised myself the day I came back to Maine that I would spend every remaining day of my life proving that you and Lila are my entire world."
He stepped closer, taking her left hand gently in his warm palm.
"I don't want to just manage your father's fleet, Sienna," Julian whispered. "I want to build a life with you. I want to be the father Lila deserves, and the husband who holds your hand not just when the sun is shining, but through every storm."
Tears of pure, overwhelming joy filled Sienna’s eyes. She looked down at the sapphire ring—a symbol of her family’s true legacy, of real love, and of unbroken strength.
"Yes, Julian," Sienna whispered, a brilliant smile breaking across her face. "Yes! A thousand times yes!"
Julian slid the sapphire ring onto her finger—a perfect fit. He lifted her effortlessly into his arms, pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss beneath the moonlit sky of Boston Harbor.
When they stepped back into the private lounge, Mrs. Gable was sitting with ten-month-old Lila, who was now awake, bouncing happily on the old woman's lap.
When Lila saw Julian step into the room, the baby immediately reached her tiny arms out toward him, babbling happily: "Ju! Ju!"
Julian laughed—a bright, beautiful sound—and leaned down to scoop Lila into his arms, pressing his face against her soft, warm neck as the baby giggled hysterically.
Sienna stood beside them, wrapping her arms around Julian’s waist, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"Look at us, Mary," Sienna said softly to Mrs. Gable.
Mrs. Gable wiped a tear from her eye with her handkerchief, smiling warmly at the sight of the complete, happy family. "Your father is looking down from heaven tonight, Little Miss. He’s finally at peace."
