Chapter 13 - The Siege of Coyoacán

By the time their SUV pulled up to the gates of the estate, the quiet, residential street was a circus of flashing lights and media cameras. Two black government vehicles were parked across the driveway, and a man in a dark suit stood at the intercom, holding a stack of legal documents.
A crowd of reporters had gathered at the perimeter, their microphones thrust forward as they recognized Javier’s vehicle.
"Mariana! Is it true you forged your husband's signature to secure the estate?" one reporter shouted through the glass.
"Mrs. Valenzuela, are you facing immediate eviction?" another yelled.
Javier drove the SUV straight through the gates, which opened automatically as his security team pushed the crowd back. He parked close to the front doors of the house, shielding Mariana and Mateo as they hurried inside.
Inside the grand foyer, the air felt suffocating. Natalia Torres, Mariana's trusted attorney from the women's collective, was already there, her briefcase open on the glass coffee table, her expression deeply strained.
"How is this possible, Natalia?" Mariana asked, her voice shaking as she locked the front door. "We won the court case. The judge ruled that Elvira’s claims were based on fraudulent documents."
"This isn't about custody, Mariana," Natalia sighed, rubbing her temples. "This is property law. Elvira’s attorney produced a post-nuptial property trust agreement signed by your late husband, Carlos, eight years ago. According to the document, the Coyoacán mansion was purchased entirely with Elvira’s capital, and the deed holds a reversionary clause. If Carlos died without a male heir who had reached the age of majority, the property automatically reverts to Elvira's estate."
"But Mateo is his heir!" Mariana cried out.
"Mateo is seven," Natalia countered gently. "The clause specifies twenty-one. Legally, until Mateo turns twenty-one, the property belongs to Elvira’s corporation. And since that corporation is now being managed by her liquidator, Alejandro Vargas, he has the right to evict any unauthorized occupants. Including you."

"They want to throw us out on the street," Mariana said, her voice dropping to a whisper as she looked up the grand staircase, where Mateo was currently playing in his room, completely unaware that his home was being stolen again. "They couldn't take my son, so now they want to take his sanctuary."
"Over my dead body," Javier said, stepping into the room, his eyes burning with an intense, calculated rage. "I built my logistics and security firm from nothing, Natalia. I know how to fight people who hide behind paper. We are not leaving this house."
