The courtroom was packed when the jury returned.
“On the count of felony child abuse and endangerment, how do you find the defendant, Vanessa?”
“Guilty.”
“On the count of grand larceny and corporate conspiracy?”
“Guilty.”
The judge slammed his gavel down. “Vanessa, your actions against two defenseless children represent a profound betrayal of trust and humanity. You are hereby sentenced to twenty-five years in state prison without the possibility of parole.”
Julian Vance received thirty years for federal financial fraud and conspiracy.
