Chapter 3 - Poison in the Well

By 3:00 AM, the toxicology report came back from the lab, bringing a chilling realization. The physician, Dr. Aris, pointed to elevated trace amounts of heavy metals and sedative compounds in Clara’s bloodstream.
"This isn't just starvation, Mr. Vance," Dr. Aris said sternly. "Someone was systematically slipping low-grade toxins and appetite suppressants into her water to make her look mentally unstable and physically deteriorated."
My blood ran ice-cold. It wasn't just neglect; it was attempted murder. Eleanor and Julian were attempting to slowly eliminate Clara, acquire legal guardianship of my unborn child, and secure control of my estate.
At dawn, Mark intercepted Julian trying to flee the state at Midway Airport. Security personnel pinned him to the floor, seizing a laptop containing hidden ledgers, fake IDs, and offshore shell companies designed to drain Vance Enterprises.

"Sebastian, please!" Julian sobbed as Mark dragged him into an interrogation room at our corporate office. "Mom made me do it! She said Clara didn't belong in our family!"
"You fed poison to my pregnant wife, Julian," I said, leaning in close. "You will never see the sun as a free man again."
