Chapter 9 - Rebuilding from the Ashes

Six months later.
The sign on the high-rise building in downtown Richmond now read: LANGFORD GLOBAL TRANSPORT.
Inside, the atmosphere was completely different. The culture of fear and arrogance that Derek had fostered was gone, replaced by a collaborative, respectful environment. I had personally overseen the restructuring, promoting several key employees whom Derek had sidelined because they challenged him.
My father walked into my office, looking around with a proud smile.
"You've done an incredible job here, Vivian," he said, placing a hand on my shoulder. "The Q3 earnings are up twenty percent, and the new green-energy fleet initiative is a massive success."
"Thanks, Dad," I said, smiling up at him. "I couldn't have done it without your guidance."

"No, Vivian," Charles said softly. "I gave you the tools, but you built this. You are a natural leader. I only regret that I didn't step in sooner to protect you."
"Don't regret it," I said, looking down at my hands, which no longer trembled. "If I hadn't gone through that, I would have never realized how strong I truly am."
