Chapter 6 - The Poisoned Allies

With Teresa locked up, the rest of the leech-like extended family went into a frenzy.

My phone blew up with dozens of text messages, voicemails, and social media posts from aunts, uncles, and cousins I hadn't spoken to in years. They accused me of being a monster, a terrible son, and a traitor to my bloodline.

Aunt Betsy even started an online campaign, posting photos of Teresa looking fragile in jail, claiming Amy was an abusive daughter-in-law who had manipulated me into turning against my own mother.

On Wednesday morning, as I stepped out onto my front porch to pick up the newspaper, I found red spray paint plastered across my garage door: TRAITOR.

Amy stood at the window, clutching Frederick, her eyes wide with fear. "Connor, they’re never going to stop, are they?"

"They will," I said softly, walking back inside and locking the door behind me. "Because they think I’m still the passive boy who just sends checks. They don't realize I’m a construction engineer—my entire job is breaking down rotten structures."

I called my legal team and gave them one simple instruction: "File civil lawsuits against every single relative who attended that party, posted defamatory statements online, or received stolen funds from Teresa’s account."

Two days later, process servers descended upon Aunt Betsy, Uncle Richard, Cousin Mason, and five other relatives.

They were served with lawsuits for defamation, conspiracy to commit fraud, illegal trespassing, and unjust enrichment.

The total damages claimed: $1.2 million.

The panic in the family spread like wildfire. Suddenly, the brave relatives who had been trash-talking us online realized that their own homes, bank accounts, and wages were now on the line.
