Chapter 10 - Forever Moretti

Three months later.
The Westchester sun shone brightly over the manicured lawns of the Moretti estate. The heavy iron gates stood open, welcoming visitors instead of keeping the world at bay.
Inside the grand kitchen, the smell of fresh garlic bread and simmering tomato sauce filled the air.
Claire Donovan stood by the stove, humming softly as she stirred a large pot of pasta. Her thrift-store suitcase was long gone, replaced by a closet full of clothes in the master suite. Her apartment in Queens had been securely paid off, and six-year-old Lily was now happily enrolled in a wonderful private school just ten minutes down the road, frequently visiting the estate on weekends to join Noah, Caleb, and Miles in their elaborate backyard adventures.
Footsteps echoed softly behind her, followed by strong, familiar arms wrapping around her waist. A warm chin rested comfortably on her shoulder.
"You're burning the garlic bread, Mrs. Moretti," Adrian whispered playfully against her neck, pressing a gentle kiss to her skin.
Claire laughed, turning around in his embrace and wrapping her arms around his neck. "I am not burning it. I am achieving optimal crispiness. And for the record, I prefer my maiden name during working hours."
"You haven't been a nanny in three months, Claire," Adrian smiled, his dark eyes sparkling with a warmth and joy that had been missing for years. "You're the co-owner of this chaos."
Just then, the kitchen door swung wide open, and the triplets raced in, led by Lily, who was holding a freshly painted canvas.
"Look, Daddy! Look, Claire!" Lily shouted proudly, holding up a bright, colorful painting of the entire family standing together under a brilliant sun—a father, a mother, four children, and a very fat cat.
Adrian looked down at the painting, then looked at Claire, his heart swelling with a profound, unbreakable peace.
The first nanny had left screaming.
The second had run into a door.
Six professionals had failed to crack the walls of the Moretti estate.
Because they had tried to use rules, money, and distance.

Claire Donovan had used something far more powerful: courage, resilience, and unconditional love.
Adrian pulled Claire closer, kissing her deeply as their children cheered around them. The shadows of the past were gone, replaced by the brilliant, unbroken dawn of their forever home.
