Chapter 10 - The Road Ahead
One year later.
The crisp autumn air swept across a quiet winding mountain road just outside of Atlanta.
A brand-new, sleek black electric sports car glided smoothly around the turns, its engine humming with quiet power.
In the driver’s seat sat Tessa, wearing dark sunglasses, her hands firmly on the leather steering wheel, a wide, confident smile on her face.
Beside her in the passenger seat sat Adrian, holding onto the door handle with a look of mild terror.
"Tessa," Adrian said, checking his seatbelt for the third time. "The speed limit on this mountain road is forty-five miles per hour. You are currently doing seventy-two."
"Relax, Ice King!" Tessa laughed, downshifting smoothly as she took a sharp curve with expert precision. "I took those high-performance driving lessons you bought me for my birthday! I have total control!"
"You're driving a two-hundred-thousand-dollar machine like it's a bumper car!"
"Hey," Tessa smirked, glancing over at him playfully. "The last time I crashed into you, I got a handsome billionaire husband, a paid-off mortgage, and a life beyond my wildest dreams. Who knows what I'll get if I crash again?"
Adrian chuckled, his heart melting as he looked at his wife. The fire in her eyes, her boundless energy, her infectious joy—it was the air he breathed every single day.
He reached over, gently placing his hand over hers on the gear shift.
"You won't need to crash ever again, darling," Adrian said softly, bringing her hand to his lips and kissing her knuckles. "You already have everything I own. Including my heart."
Tessa pulled the car over into a scenic lookout point overlooking the sunlit mountains. She shut off the engine and turned in her seat to face him.
"You know," Tessa said, resting her arms on his shoulders, pulling him close, "people still whisper about us. They still ask how a girl from a broken neighborhood ended up with the most powerful CEO in the city."
"And what do you tell them?" Adrian asked, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest.

"I tell them," Tessa whispered, pressing her lips against his in a sweet, tender kiss, "that sometimes, the best accidents in life are the ones you never see coming."
