Chapter 10 - The Foundation of Tomorrow

Adeline stood on the balcony of her office, the city lights flickering below like a blanket of stars.
She looked at her hands. They weren't soft, decorative hands anymore. They were the hands of a builder.
She had lost everything she thought she wanted, only to find the one thing she truly needed: herself. The Prescott name was not a shadow she had to hide in, nor a throne she had to occupy. It was a legacy of building, and she was the one holding the compass.
She thought of the little rattle, the symbol of the baby she had lost. She still had it, tucked away in a velvet box. It wasn't a weight anymore. It was a promise.
A promise to herself that she would never be small again.
As she looked out into the night, she saw the silhouette of her new memorial, its clean, modern lines cutting through the dark. It was safe. It was solid. It was hers.
Adeline turned back into the office, the lights illuminating the walls covered in sketches and plans. She had erased the name she had once shared with a man who couldn't see her, and in its place, she had built something that would stand for a hundred years.

The empire was back in its owner's hands, and for the first time, the foundation was unbreakable.
She sat at her desk, picked up her pencil, and began to draw. The future was waiting.
