Chapter 8 - The Healing
Adeline went to the hospital to see Dr. Lena Morris. She had started a foundation for women who had suffered pregnancy loss, funding the research that had been neglected for years.
“You look like you’ve found your peace,” Dr. Morris said, smiling.

“I’ve found my purpose,” Adeline replied. “I think that’s better.”
She looked out the window at the skyline, a city she had shaped, a city that was finally beginning to reflect the best of her ideals. The pain was still there, a soft, dull ache, but it was no longer the focus. It was a part of her, a reminder of the price she had paid to become the woman she was today.
