She Walked Into a Mafia Boss's Kitchen to Save Her Daughter — and His Four Sons Made Sure She Never Left

The rain poured down in relentless sheets over the flat roof of the Foretti mansion. Lightning split the black sky, illuminating the silhouette of a massive helicopter hovering fifty feet above the helipad.

On the slippery roof tiles stood Arthur, the Moretti family lawyer, wearing a dark raincoat, holding a trembling Leo by his arm. Beside him were three armed mercenaries with assault rifles.

"Move back, Daniel!" Arthur screamed over the deafening roar of the helicopter blades and the thunder. "One step closer and I toss the kid off the ledge!"

Daniel stepped out onto the roof, soaked in seconds. He carried no weapon in his hands—his gun was holstered at his hip. He walked with a slow, terrifying rhythm, his face completely calm.

"You're not a killer, Arthur," Daniel said, his voice cutting through the storm with chilling clarity. "You're a paper-pusher who takes kickbacks from my sister-in-law."

"I have five million dollars waiting for me in Zurich if I deliver this boy to Victoria!" Arthur yelled, his voice cracking with hysteria. "She’s taking over the Commission tonight! You're done, Foretti!"

"Daddy!" Leo screamed, his tiny voice terrified as he struggled against Arthur's tight grip near the slippery edge of the roof.

"Hold still, Leo," Daniel said gently, his eyes locking onto his son. "Look at me, buddy. Don't look down. Look at Daddy."

Suddenly, the roof door burst open behind Daniel.

It was Elena.

She hadn't stayed in the panic room. She had grabbed a heavy iron fire poker from the hallway and followed Daniel up the stairs.

Arthur blinked in disbelief as Elena stepped out into the rain. "You again?! You stupid bitch, you should have taken the money!"

Elena didn't answer. She didn't look at Arthur. She looked at the mercenary standing closest to the ledge, holding the rope ladder hanging from the helicopter.

"Elena, get back!" Daniel barked.

"No," Elena said loudly, her wet hair plastered across her face. She looked straight at Leo. "Leo! What’s the rule in my kitchen when things get messy?"

Leo looked at her through his tears, his small chest heaving. "You... you don't panic! You clean it up!"

"That's right!" Elena yelled. "Now drop!"

Before Arthur could react, Leo pulled his legs up, dropping his entire weight instantly. The sudden movement threw Arthur off balance on the slick, rain-drenched roof. Arthur stumbled backward, his grip slipping off Leo’s small arm.

"Now, Daniel!" Elena screamed.

Daniel moved like a predator unleashed. In the span of two seconds, he drew his pistol, firing three precise shots. The three mercenaries crumpled to the wet deck before they could raise their weapons.

Arthur scrambled backward toward the edge, grabbing wildly for Leo as the boy tried to crawl away.

Elena sprinted across the slippery roof, throwing herself forward. She slammed the heavy iron fire poker down onto Arthur’s wrist with all the strength in her body.

Arthur let out a sickening scream of pain as his bone cracked, releasing Leo completely.

Daniel reached them in a flash. He grabbed Arthur by the collar of his raincoat, hauling the trembling lawyer off the floor and suspending him over the five-story drop off the edge of the roof.

"Please! Please, Daniel! It was Victoria! She made me do it!" Arthur shrieked, his legs dangling in the empty air.

Daniel looked down at the sniveling man. Then he looked at Elena, who was holding Leo tightly in her arms, shielding him from the rain.

"Please, Daniel," Elena said softly, her eyes pleading with him. "Not in front of him. Don't let your son see you become what they want you to be."

Daniel stared at Elena. The rage inside him was a blazing inferno, demanding blood. But looking at Elena holding his terrified son, the fire slowly died down, leaving only cold, iron control.
