Chapter 10 - The Eternal Flame

One year later.
The private beach estate in Cape May, New Jersey, was bathed in the golden light of a late summer sunset. The ocean waves crashed softly against the shore, sending a cool, gentle breeze through the white silk canopies set up along the sand.
Classical violin music drifted through the warm air as guests took their seats.
At the end of the aisle, standing beside a floral arch made of white roses and ocean lilies, was Dominic Moretti. He looked regal and breathtakingly handsome in a navy tuxedo, his dark eyes fixed entirely on the wooden boardwalk leading down from the main house. Beside him, acting as his best man, was Marcus, holding the wedding bands.
The music shifted into a sweeping, romantic symphony.
The double doors of the beach house opened, and Claire stepped out onto the boardwalk.
She was a vision of absolute perfection. Her wedding gown was a custom masterpiece of silk and hand-stitched lace, featuring a plunging back and a sweeping train that trailed behind her like sea foam. The gown left her shoulders bare, showing off her figure and the pale, soft scar along her collarbone and jawline—not hidden, but sparkling under a subtle dusting of iridescent body shimmer.
She held a bouquet of white roses and blue hydrangeas. Her dark hair fell in soft, loose curls down her back, and her face glowed with a transcendent, joyous light.
Old Anthony Moretti stood at the top of the boardwalk, offering her his arm with tears in his stern old eyes. "You look like an angel, my girl," he whispered proudly.
"Thank you, Anthony," Claire said softly, tucking her hand into his arm as they walked down the aisle together.
As Claire reached the altar, Dominic stepped forward, taking her hands from Anthony. His touch was warm, steady, and filled with an intense, burning love that made Claire’s heart sing.
"You are breathtaking," Dominic whispered, his voice trembling slightly with raw emotion.
"And you are mine," Claire replied softly, her smile radiant.
The priest stood before them, his voice echoing over the quiet rush of the ocean waves.
"We are gathered here today to unite two souls who have walked through the deepest shadows, fought through the hottest fires, and found in each other an unbreakable, eternal love."
When it came time for the vows, Dominic took both of Claire's hands, looking directly into her eyes.
"Claire," Dominic said, his deep baritone rich with emotion. "I spent my life believing that strength was defined by fear, control, and violence. But the day you walked into my life, you showed me that true strength is the courage to love, to heal, and to protect those who cannot protect themselves. You walked through hell to save me, and you gave me a life I never thought I deserved. I promise to honor you, respect you, stand beside you in every battle, and love you with every beat of my heart until the end of time."
Claire wiped a tear of joy from her cheek, her hands tightening around his.
"Dominic," Claire said, her voice clear, confident, and filled with infinite devotion. "When my world was burned to ashes, everyone I trusted walked away. But you saw me. You didn't see a victim; you saw a survivor. You gave me back my strength, my dignity, and my heart. You fought for me when I was weak, and you stood by me when I grew strong. I promise to be your partner, your anchor, your healer, and your love for all the days of my life."
The priest smiled warmly at them both. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Dominic, you may kiss your bride."
Dominic pulled Claire into his arms, dipping her back gently over the sand as he kissed her with deep, passionate, unyielding love.
The guests rose to their feet, cheering and clapping as white rose petals rained down upon them in the evening breeze.
As Dominic lifted her back up, Claire wrapped her arm around his neck, looking out over the endless, golden ocean. The pain of the past, the scars of the fire, and the betrayal of a coward were gone—melted away in the heat of a love that had proven stronger than death itself.
Dominic pulled her close against his side, kissing her temple. "Ready for our forever, Mrs. Moretti?"
Claire looked up at her husband, her blue eyes shining brighter than the stars beginning to appear in the evening sky.

"I've never been more ready," Claire said softly.
Hand in hand, they walked up the beach together toward the light of their new home, entering a future filled with peace, power, and an eternal, burning love.
