Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

One year later.
The sun shone brightly over the manicured lawns of the Carranza estate, casting a warm, golden glow over the hundreds of guests gathered for the event of the season. The air was filled with the scent of fresh white roses and the sweet melody of a string quartet.
Inside the bridal suite, Elena stood looking at herself in a breathtaking white lace gown. Her life had transformed completely over the past twelve months. With Matthew’s help, she had taken over her father’s company, restoring its name to one of integrity and charity. Isabel and Ambrose were serving lengthy sentences in federal prison, never to disturb her peace again.
But the biggest transformation was in her heart. What had started as a desperate escape and a cold contract had blossomed into a deep, consuming love.
A gentle knock sounded at the door, and Matthew walked in. Protocol dictated he shouldn't see the bride before the ceremony, but Matthew Carranza had never been one to follow rules. He looked strikingly handsome in a tailored tuxedo, his eyes instantly locking onto his future wife.
"You are absolutely breathtaking, Elena," he said, his voice thick with emotion as he walked over to take her hands in his.
"I was just thinking about the night we met," Elena said with a smile, looking up into his dark eyes, which were now filled with nothing but warmth and devotion. "I was so terrified. I thought I was jumping into another nightmare."

Matthew smiled, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead. "And I thought I was letting a dangerous distraction into my car. Turns out, I was letting in the only miracle I would ever need."
As they walked out into the sunshine together, hand in hand, the guests rose to their feet, cheering for the couple who had fought through the dark storm to find their own perfect dawn. Elena looked at the man beside her, knowing that no matter what the future held, she would never have to run again. She was exactly where she belonged.
