Chapter 7 - The Trap is Sprayed

Back at the corporate penthouse, Julian placed his tablet flat onto the coffee table in front of Sebastian and Charlotte. The audio waveform of Margaret’s conversation with Victor played clearly through the high-end speakers.
Charlotte listened to every word, her expression cold and impassil. When the recording ended, she looked up at her grandfather.
“She never learns,” Sebastian muttered, shaking his head slowly with a mixture of profound sorrow and cold resolve. “She is willing to destroy the entire family name just to feed her own bottomless vanity.”
“She just signed her own criminal confinement warrant,” Julian added, tapping the screen. “We traced the encrypted routing number. The call originated from her private study. Furthermore, we’ve identified her co-conspirator: Victor Thorne, a disgraced former corporate fixer with an active international warrant for industrial espionage and extortion.”
Charlotte stood up, walking toward the window to watch the city lights flicker below. “Let’s not intercept them before they make their move, Julian.”
Julian raised an eyebrow. “Director Valle? You want to let them try?”
“If we arrest her now on a phone call, her defense attorneys will claim it was a frustrated outburst under emotional distress,” Charlotte said calmly, her eyes reflecting the glowing skyline. “We need concrete, undeniable in-the-act proof of a conspiracy to commit bodily harm and corporate sabotage. Set a trap. Let them think the executive floor is vulnerable during tomorrow morning’s pre-dawn security shift.”

Sebastian looked at his granddaughter with a sudden, overwhelming wave of pride. The frightened, bruised girl who had fallen onto the lobby marble a few nights ago was gone. In her place stood a brilliant, strategic leader who outsmarted her enemies by letting their own greed swallow them whole.
“Do as she says, Julian,” Sebastian instructed quietly. “And ensure elite federal protection is stationed inside and outside every corridor. I will not risk losing her a second time.”
