Chapter 6 - The Fall of the Titan

"You can't prove anything!" Sterling choked out, sweat pouring down his neck, his eyes fixed on Shadow's dripping jaw. "You have no legal standing! The police—"

"The police are currently raiding your private estate in Surrey," Viktor said calmly, pulling a stack of signed arrest warrants and asset seizure orders from his jacket. "It turns out when you pay mercenaries through offshore Swiss accounts linked to human trafficking rings, Scotland Yard takes a very active interest."

The heavy double doors opened again. This time, six uniformed officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command stepped into the boardroom, led by Detective Inspector Thomas.

"Vance Sterling," Detective Thomas announced, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, attempted murder, and high treason. You have the right to remain silent."

As the officers moved in to snap the cuffs onto Sterling’s wrists, the disgraced billionaire lost his mind completely. He lunged across the table, grabbing a heavy glass water decanter and swinging it wildly toward Viktor’s head!

SNAP!

Shadow moved like a strike of lightning.

The dog leapt over the conference table, clamping his jaws around Sterling’s forearm, forcing him to drop the heavy glass decanter onto the carpet with a dull thud. Sterling shrieked in agony as Shadow dragged him to his knees, pinning him effortlessly against the floorboards until the police officers took control of the suspect.

"Get it off me! Get this demon off me!" Sterling screamed as he was hauled to his feet, his Savile Row suit torn to ribbons, his arms pinned behind his back.

Viktor stood over his former business partner, looking down at him with quiet, absolute victory.

"You thought power was built on money and fear, Vance," Viktor said softly. "You forgot that real power is built on loyalty. And the street remembers who treated it like dirt."

The police dragged Vance Sterling out of the boardroom in shame, past dozens of news cameras that had already gathered in the lobby below. The Sterling empire was dead before the market closed at noon.

Viktor looked down at Shadow. The dog sat calmly beside the broken glass, panting softly, looking up at Viktor as if asking for his next assignment.

Viktor reached down, his heavy, scarred hand resting on the dog’s head, scratching him firmly behind his torn ear.

"Good boy," Viktor murmured. "Let's go home. The kids are waiting."
