Chapter 8 - The Clean Sweep

Within forty-eight hours, the Sterling family empire collapsed entirely.

With Victor, Marcus, and Julian held without bail on federal corruption charges, the Sterling political network evaporated overnight. Vanessa Sterling, stripped of her family’s wealth and facing criminal conspiracy charges, fled the city in disgrace, her reputation completely destroyed.

The news outlets that had once vilified Ivy Bennett were now forced to print massive retractions:

"HEROIC MAID EXPOSES MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR POLITICAL CORRUPTION RING."

"IVY BENNETT: THE BRAINS BEHIND THE BELLMORE EMPIRE."

Back at the estate, the mood was ecstatic. The victory was celebrated not just as a win for Dominic Bellmore, but as a triumph for every single employee who had ever been looked down upon by the wealthy elite.

On Thursday evening, Dominic called a mandatory meeting of the entire staff in the grand ballroom.

Seventy-three employees stood beneath the gleaming crystal chandeliers—the very same room where, just days prior, Vanessa had tried to destroy Ivy’s dignity.

Dominic stood on the raised dais at the head of the room. He was wearing an immaculate black suit, looking every bit the formidable leader he was. But his eyes were warm.

"Four days ago," Dominic spoke into the microphone, his deep voice echoing through the grand space, "a line was crossed in this house. A guest believed that money and power gave her the right to humiliate one of our own."

The crowd was dead silent, listening intently.

"I made the mistake of bringing that toxicity into our home," Dominic continued, taking a deep breath. "And I learned a lesson that my grandmother tried to teach me years ago: a house is only as strong as the people who make it run."

Dominic turned his head and held out his hand.

"Ivy. Please join me."

Ivy, dressed in an exquisite emerald-green silk dress that hugged her stunning, full curves, walked up the steps onto the dais. Her chin-length hair gleamed beneath the chandeliers.

The staff erupted into cheers and applause. Margaret Doyle wiped tears from her eyes, and Captain Vance nodded in deep respect.

Dominic turned to Ivy, looking into her eyes in front of everyone.

"Effective immediately," Dominic announced, "the Bellmore Family Trust is establishing a permanent employee profit-sharing fund. Ten percent of all non-military shipping revenue will be distributed directly to the estate staff, security detail, and maintenance teams."

A gasp ran through the room, followed by thunderous applause.

"Furthermore," Dominic added, his voice softening, "Ivy Bennett is officially appointed as the Managing Director and Partner of Bellmore Global Logistics."

Ivy looked at him, her eyes shining with surprise. "Partner?"

"Partner," Dominic repeated firmly. "In business... and, if you’ll have me... in life."

The room went completely quiet again.

Dominic took a step closer to Ivy. In front of seventy-three employees, the feared, powerful mafia boss—a man who had never bowed to anyone in his life—slowly reached out and took Ivy’s hand, looking at her with pure, unfiltered devotion.

"I spent years looking for power in alliances, politics, and fear," Dominic whispered softly so only she could hear. "I didn't realize that the most powerful, precious thing in my life was standing right in front of me every morning, making sure my world didn't fall apart."

Ivy’s heart beat wildly against her chest. "Dominic..."

"I love you, Ivy Bennett," Dominic said, his voice loud enough for the entire room to hear. "Not because of what you do for this house. But because of who you are. Will you let me spend the rest of my life earning your trust?"

Tears finally overflowed from Ivy’s eyes—not tears of sadness or shame, but of pure, overflowing happiness.

"Yes," Ivy whispered, a beautiful smile breaking across her face. "Yes, Dominic. I will."

Dominic pulled her into his arms, dipping her slightly as he brought his lips down to hers in a deep, passionate kiss.

The entire ballroom burst into wild, deafening cheers. Champagne corks popped, security guards threw their caps into the air, and Margaret Doyle clapped her hands with joy.
