Chapter 16 - Captive Audience

Julian was thrown violently to the concrete floor, pinned beneath Marco’s boot. But even in defeat, a twisted, manic smile spread across Julian’s face.

"You think you won?" Julian wheezed, blood trickling from his lip. "Check your home telemetry, Dominic. Look at your secure feeds."

Dominic’s blood ran cold. He pulled out his encrypted tablet with lightning speed, tapping into the live security feeds of Moretti Manor. The screen flickered, showing the sunroom where Emily and the children were supposed to be sleeping.

Except the room was empty. The French doors were shattered, glass glittering in the moonlight.

"No," Dominic muttered, his composure shattering instantly. He grabbed Julian by the collar, lifting him off the ground with one hand. "Where are they? Where did you take them?"

"A parting gift," Julian choked out, laughing maniacally. "A second team... while you were busy playing hero here. They have your wife and your little girl."

Dominic dropped Julian like a ragdoll, turning to Marco with eyes blazing with pure fury. "Secure this rat. Marco, get the chopper ready. We are burning every inch of this county until I get my family back."

The rail yards faded into the background as Dominic raced back toward the estate, every second ticking like a bomb in his chest.
