Chapter 9 - The Last Domino

I stepped forward, handing the certified financial audit documents to the court bailiff, who delivered them directly to Judge Harrison’s bench.

"Three years ago," I said, my voice strong, steady, and echoing through the hushed courtroom, "Julian Hale authorized three separate payments of two hundred thousand dollars to an offshore chemical supplier under the pseudonym Aegis Holdings. He wasn't in Zurich minding his own business, Your Honor. He was funding the very development of the drug his sister used to poison my husband."

Judge Harrison adjusted his glasses, scanning the bank stamp codes on the paper. His expression hardened from judicial neutrality into stern, unyielding outrage.

"These transfers bear your digital signature, Mr. Hale," Judge Harrison said, looking down at Julian with immense disgust. "Along with an explicit memorandum note: 'For the Cole Medical restructuring project.'"

Julian’s attorney looked at his client in absolute horror, realizing in an instant that he had walked his client directly into a federal trap.

"Your Honor—" Julian stammered, standing up, his polished composure completely shattering into panic. "That... those were routine investment transfers! I didn't know what Vanessa was using the money for!"

"You funded an attempted murder on a federal witness, Mr. Hale," Judge Harrison declared, slamming his gavel down with a thunderous CRACK. "The motion for an injunction is denied with prejudice. Furthermore, I am remanding you into the immediate custody of the United States Marshals pending a grand jury indictment for conspiracy and accessory to attempted murder!"

Two heavy-set federal marshals stepped up behind Julian, locking steel cuffs around his wrists before he could even take a step toward the aisle.

As they dragged him out past our table, Julian looked at me—his eyes filled with the exact same shock his sister had displayed eighteen months ago when her world collapsed around her.

"How...?" Julian choked out, staring at me. "You were just a housekeeper..."

Nathan stood up beside me, pulling me gently against his side, his arm wrapping around my waist with fierce, protective pride.

"She isn't just a housekeeper, Julian," Nathan said coldly as the doors swung shut behind the marshals. "She’s the woman who saved this family. And you just learned why nobody messes with her."
