Chapter 7 - The Reckoning of Vance

When Dominic returned from Manhattan two hours later by private helicopter, his fury was beyond anything Bellhaven had ever witnessed.
He didn't call the police. The Vescari family handled their own justice.
By midnight, Marcus and his team had tracked Julian Vance and Rosalind Crane to a private yacht docked at the outer marina, preparing to flee to South America.
Dominic walked down the wooden dock alone, flanked only by Marcus. Rain poured down in heavy sheets, thunder crashing across the dark waters of the bay.
Julian Vance and Rosalind Crane were brought onto the wooden deck of the yacht in handcuffs, forced onto their knees by Dominic’s security team.
Dominic stepped onto the deck. He wore his long dark coat, his face completely devoid of human emotion—a shadow of death incarnate.
"Dominic! Please!" Julian Vance begged, weeping hysterically, his silk shirt soaked with rain. "It was my sister's idea! Victoria wanted revenge for the humiliation at the gala! I didn't mean to poison your father!"
Rosalind Crane shrank back in absolute terror, trembling so hard her teeth chattered. "Mr. Vescari! I just wanted my job back! I didn't know it was poison!"
Dominic stopped three feet away from them. He looked down at them with absolute, devastating disgust.
"You tried to murder an seventy-six-year-old man," Dominic said, his voice quiet, almost lost beneath the sound of the rain, yet carrying a lethal weight that made both prisoners freeze. "You tried to frame the woman I love. And you thought a boat could carry you far enough away from me."
"Please! We'll give you everything!" Julian sobbed. "Our family's estate! Our shares in the port!"
Dominic turned his back on them, walking toward the edge of the yacht.
"Marcus," Dominic commanded coldly.
"Yes, Boss?"
"Turn Julian Vance, Victoria Vance, and Rosalind Crane over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation along with the full evidence files of their attempted murder, financial fraud, and treason. Let them spend the rest of their natural lives in a maximum-security prison cell, stripped of every dollar, every title, and every shred of dignity."
Julian gasped in shock. "You're... you're not going to kill us?"
Dominic paused at the gangway, looking back over his shoulder.
May you like
"Death is too quick for people like you," Dominic said softly. "I want you to sit in a concrete cell for forty years, knowing that every single day you spend in darkness... Mara and I are living in the light."
With that, Dominic walked off the boat into the dark night, leaving the sobbing conspirators to be handed over to federal agents waiting at the end of the pier.
