Chapter 9 - The Wedding in the Gardens

Six months later.
Spring had arrived in Manhattan, blooming with vibrant pink cherry blossoms, lush green lawns, and warm, gentle sunlight.
The Rinaldi Estate had completely transformed. The cold, pale stone walls that once intimidated the entire city were now draped in climbing white roses and warm gold sunlight. The silent security cameras remained, but the oppressive gloom of the estate was gone forever—replaced by the sound of music, laughter, and children running across the manicured lawns.
It was the day of the wedding.
In the grand master bedroom suite of the east wing, Serena stood before a floor-to-ceiling mirror, putting the finishing touches on her wedding attire.
She wore an ethereal ivory lace gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline, a long, sweeping train, and a sheer veil that caught the warm spring breeze coming through the open balcony doors.
A knock sounded at the door.
"Mommy!"
Seven-year-old Lucia ran into the room, dressed in a adorable soft lavender flower-girl dress, a crown of white daisies resting on her braided hair.
"Lucia, look at you!" Serena gasped, kneeling down to hug her daughter. "You look like a real princess!"
"You look like a queen, Mommy!" Lucia beamed, hugging Serena tightly around the neck. "And guess what? The boys are ready! They're wearing little suits that match Vittorio's!"
Behind Lucia, Mrs. Chen stepped into the room, wearing a beautiful navy silk gown. Her eyes were wet with happy tears as she adjusted Serena’s veil.
"You look breathtaking, Miss Serena," Mrs. Chen whispered emotionally. "This house... it has never seen a day so full of joy."
"Thank you, Mrs. Chen," Serena said softly, taking the older woman's hand. "Thank you for everything."
Outside in the private gardens, two hundred guests—diplomats, real estate tycoons, close friends, and prominent city figures—sat in white wooden chairs beneath a canopy of white roses and blooming cherry trees.
At the altar stood Vittorio Rinaldi.
He looked strikingly handsome in a sharp black bespoke tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, his posture tall and commanding. But the cold, lethal shadow that had defined him for years was completely gone. In its place was an aura of profound peace, confidence, and quiet happiness.
Standing beside him as his four groomsmen were six-year-old Leo, Marco, Luca, and Mateo.
They wore tailored mini-tuxedos matching their father's, looking incredibly sharp and proud. Mateo held the velvet pillow with the wedding bands; Marco was whispering a joke to Luca; and Leo was standing tall, proudly checking his gold pocket watch just like Vittorio.
The harpist began to play the opening notes of Canon in D.
The crowd stood up.
Lucia walked down the petal-covered aisle first, smiling brightly as she scattered white rose petals from her silver basket.
And then came Serena.
As Serena stepped onto the runner, framed by the arch of blooming roses, Vittorio’s breath caught in his chest. His amber eyes shone with uninhibited love, admiration, and raw emotion as he watched his bride walk toward him.
Serena reached the altar, taking Vittorio’s hands in hers.
The minister smiled warmly at the couple. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to unite Vittorio Rinaldi and Serena Valente in holy matrimony..."
The vows were simple, sincere, and deeply moving.
When it was time for Vittorio to speak, he held Serena’s hands tightly, looking straight into her eyes.
"Serena," Vittorio said, his deep voice carrying clearly over the soft garden breeze. "When you first stepped into my home, I was a man living in the dark, fighting a war against my own grief, trying to raise four boys I didn't know how to save. You didn't run from our noise. You didn't fear my walls. You brought warmth, patience, love, and courage into a house that had forgotten how to live. You healed my sons. You healed me. I promise to love you, honor you, respect you, and protect you and Lucia with every breath I have left."
Serena’s eyes overflowed with happy tears as she spoke her vows in return.
"Vittorio," Serena whispered softly. "I came to this house looking for a job to save my daughter. I found a home. I found four incredible boys who stole my heart, and a man whose strength, devotion, and fierce love made me feel safe for the very first time in my life. I promise to stand by your side through every storm, to walk with you through every joy, and to build a life full of love, laughter, and family with you forever."
"By the power vested in me," the minister announced, beaming with a wide smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may kiss the bride!"
Vittorio didn't hesitate.
He wrapped his strong arms around Serena’s waist, pulling her close, and kissed her with a deep, passionate, breathtaking devotion that caused the entire audience to break into loud cheers and applause!
The four quadruplets cheered loudly, throwing their hands in the air!

"YES!" Leo yelled, hugging Mateo. "She's officially our mom now!"
Lucia ran up and hugged Serena’s legs, laughing as Vittorio scooped both Serena and Lucia into his arms, kissing his new wife once more under a rain of thrown rose petals.
