Chapter 10 - THE LIGHT THAT NEVER FADES

One year later.
The setting sun painted the Montecito sky in breathtaking shades of gold, rose, and deep violet. The ocean in the distance sparkled like a field of crushed diamonds.
On the grand lawn of the estate, a small, intimate gathering of true friends and family had assembled under a canopy of warm fairy lights. Detective Marcus Kane, now a close family friend, stood by the grill with Arthur Pendelton, laughing over stories, while Dr. Vance enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio.
Near the grand oak tree, Ethan stood wearing a sharp linen suit, looking healthier and happier than he ever had in his entire life.
Walking down the aisle of green grass, holding a bouquet of wild lavender and white roses, was Sarah. She looked radiant in a simple, elegant ivory dress that caught the warm evening light.
And walking right beside her, holding Sarah’s hand as her proud junior maid of honor, was six-year-old Sophie.
Sophie wore a matching white dress with a crown of yellow flowers in her hair, her face illuminated by the purest, most radiant smile a child could ever possess.
The local judge, an old family friend, stood under the floral archway, smiling as Ethan took Sarah’s hands in his.
"Ethan," Sarah spoke, her voice filled with deep, unwavering emotion as she looked into his eyes. "You showed me what true courage looks like. You fought through the deepest darkness to protect the person you loved most, and you opened your heart again when you had every reason to lock it forever. I promise to love you, honor you, and stand beside you and Sophie for all the days of my life."
Ethan smiled, a single tear of joy glistening on his cheek, his hands holding hers with total, absolute certainty.
"Sarah," Ethan answered softly. "You brought peace to a storm. You gave my daughter a mother’s gentle warmth when she needed it most, and you showed me that real love doesn't demand, control, or hide. It heals. I give you my heart, my protection, and my life, forever."
"By the authority vested in me," the judge declared joyfully, "I now pronounce you husband and wife!"
The small crowd erupted into cheers and happy applause!
Ethan pulled Sarah into his arms, kissing her deeply as the warm evening breeze rustled through the oak trees above!
Sophie jumped up and down with delight, wrapping her tiny arms around both of their legs. "We're a real family now! We're real!"
Ethan dropped to his knees, pulling Sarah down with him, wrapping their arms securely around Sophie, holding their daughter in the center of their love.

The nightmare that had begun in a dark Malibu kitchen was forever gone. The poison was destroyed. The truth had prevailed.
And as the golden stars began to twinkle in the peaceful night sky, Ethan looked at his wife and daughter, knowing with total, absolute certainty that their light would never, ever fade again.
