Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Purge

At 9:00 AM, the glass doors of the grand boardroom on the 50th floor of Miller Meridian Tower swung open.
The twelve senior board members sat around the massive oval table, their faces pale, frantically whispering among themselves. At the head of the table sat Arthur Pendelton, the senior director who had aligned himself with Victor for the last five years.
"Jason," Pendelton said, clearing his throat nervously as I stepped into the room. "We... we were deeply shocked to hear about Victor’s tragic accident. But given the immense press fallout and the stock volatility, the board feels it is necessary to discuss a temporary leadership transition—"
"Sit down, Arthur," I said, my voice carrying an authority that instantly silenced the entire room.
I walked to the head of the table, but I didn't sit in the CEO chair. Instead, I signaled to Marcus, who opened the double doors once more.
Emma stepped into the room. She was dressed in a sleek, elegant cream trousersuit, her dark hair pulled back neatly, her posture regal and unwavering. Walking beside her, holding her hands, were Liam and Lucas.
The board members gasped, several of them sitting up straight in shock.
"Gentlemen," I announced, laying a thick black binder on the table. "This is Emma Vance. Five years ago, she was framed by my father and Victor Miller for corporate espionage to cover up an illegal slush fund operated by senior members of this board."
Pendelton’s face went completely grey. "Now see here, Jason—"
"In this binder," I continued smoothly, "are the complete forensic digital audits recovered from Victor's private server last night. It lists four current board members who received offshore pay-offs from Vance Global to facilitate the illegal surveillance of Ms. Vance and her children."
I pointed at Pendelton and three other directors sitting near him.
"You four will tender your resignations immediately," I commanded flatly. "Your shares will be repurchased at a fifty percent discount by the corporate treasury, and you will surrender your passports to federal authorities by noon."
"You can't do this!" Pendelton sputtered, standing up. "You don't have the voting majority without Victor's shares!"
"Actually, he does," Emma spoke up, her clear, confident voice ringing through the room. She stepped forward, laying a signed legal document on the table. "Victor’s shares were tied to the original Miller Family Trust. As the mother of Jason’s legal heirs, I have signed a full proxy agreement transferring all trust voting rights directly to Jason."
The room fell into absolute silence. Pendelton looked down at the document, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, before slowly sinking back into his chair in total defeat.
I looked at the remaining board members. "Any other questions regarding the future leadership of Miller Meridian?"

No one said a word.
"Good," I said, walking over to my sons and scooping both of them up into my arms. "Meeting adjourned."
