Chapter 6 - The Confrontation

For a fraction of a second, a flash of genuine guilt crossed Sarah’s face, quickly replaced by defensive panic. "You don't understand, David! I had to! They were watching the house. If I stayed, they would have killed all of us! I told Ethan to stay quiet... I thought you’d find them sooner!"
"You locked them in, Sarah. You turned off their phones. You told a six-year-old boy not to call his father."
"Enough of this domestic drama," Drago interrupted, standing up. He was taller than he looked in the photos, with cold, dead eyes. "Mr. Vance, your arrival is actually quite convenient. Your ex-wife here has made a mess of our financial arrangements. She suggested we use your corporate accounts to clear her debt. Now that you are here, we can expedite the transfer."
One of the bodyguards moved toward me, reaching inside his jacket.
Before he could draw, Marcus stepped into the cabin, a silenced pistol already drawn and aimed directly at Drago’s chest. "Nobody moves."
The cabin fell into a tense, suffocating silence.
"You think you can walk out of here, David?" Sarah cried out, her voice cracking. "Your father has everything recorded! He has files that prove your startup capital came from his offshore accounts. If you don't help me, he’ll ruin you!"
"My father is finished, Sarah," I said, pulling out my phone. "And so are you."

I tapped the screen, displaying a live transmission. "Detective Miller and the FBI have been listening to this entire conversation through my open line. The marina is surrounded."
As if on cue, the wail of sirens began to echo across the water.
