Chapter 7 - The Trap Snaps

Chaos erupted. Drago’s bodyguard lunged for Marcus. A shot rang out, muffled but lethal, and the bodyguard slumped against the mahogany table.

Drago bolted toward the deck, but Marcus was faster, tackling him to the floor.

Sarah looked at me, her eyes wild with a desperate, feral energy. She grabbed a heavy crystal decanter from the bar and swung it at my head. I ducked, the glass shattering against the wall behind me. She scrambled past me, running out onto the deck.

"Sarah, stop!" I yelled, chasing her into the humid night.

She reached the railing of the yacht. The blue and red lights of police cruisers were already flooding the marina, illuminating the docks.

"I'm not going to jail, David!" she screamed, tears streaming down her face. "I won't let you win!"

She looked down at the dark, churning water between the yacht and the concrete pier. Before I could reach her, she leaped.

But she misjudged the distance.

A sickening thud echoed through the marina as she struck the edge of the concrete pier before slipping into the black water.

"Man overboard!" Marcus yelled, running to the edge.

Two police divers who had just arrived plunged into the water. It took them three agonizing minutes to pull her out. She was unconscious, her breathing shallow, but alive.

As they strapped her to a gurney, Detective Miller walked up to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "We got Drago, and we have his servers. Your father is being arrested in New York as we speak. It’s over, David."
