Chapter 5 - The Legal Guillotine

By 9:00 AM the following morning, the financial district of Mexico City was thrown into absolute chaos. Alejandro stood at the podium in the main auditorium of Aranda Holdings, looking immaculate, calm, and utterly ruthless before a wall of international journalists.

"Effective immediately," Alejandro announced into the array of microphones, "Aranda Holdings has filed a formal criminal complaint with the Federal Attorney General's Office against senior board members Ricardo Silva and Doña Esther Aranda for corporate fraud, embezzlement, and identity theft. We have provided the authorities with full forensic access to our secure servers."

A reporter shouted over the clamor, "Mr. Aranda! Does this involve the offshore accounts in Panama? Is it true your own family was trying to frame you?"

Alejandro looked directly into the camera lens, his expression unreadable. "The law applies to everyone, regardless of their last name. The Aranda empire will undergo a complete restructuring under an independent board of trustees. Thank you."

While the press conference was airing on live television, a fleet of federal police vehicles pulled up to the gates of the Las Lomas mansion.

Inside the house, Ricardo was frantically tossing designer suits and stacks of cash into a leather duffel bag. "Marcela! Hurry up! The private airstrip in Toluca is ready! We need to get out of the country before the border control gets the alerts!"

The bedroom door was kicked open by three armed federal agents. "Ricardo Silva? You are under arrest for federal tax fraud, money laundering, and aggravated assault."

Ricardo dropped the duffel bag, his knees buckling as the cold steel of the handcuffs clicked around his wrists.

Downstairs, Doña Esther stood in the grand foyer, her cane trembling as two female agents politely but firmly escorted her toward a black sedan. Marcela was screaming in the background, her designer clothes doing nothing to protect her from the humiliation of being led away in front of her own housekeepers and gardeners.

From the second-floor balcony, Alejandro stood with his arm around Valeria, who was wrapped in a soft, warm cashmere shawl. She watched in silence as the family that had spent two years torturing her was loaded into the back of police vehicles.

"It’s over, Valeria," Alejandro said softly, kissing the top of her head.

"No," Valeria whispered, looking down at the flashing red lights reflecting off the marble driveway. "This is just the beginning. Your mother will never forgive us for this, Alejandro. She will fight from inside that cell."

"Let her fight," Alejandro said, his eyes turning to ice as the gates of the mansion closed behind the police cars. "She’s no longer fighting a businessman. She’s fighting a father."
