Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

The classical music shifted into a majestic, sweeping melody as the grand French doors of the estate opened.
I walked down the stone pathway, my hand resting gently on Aria’s shoulder as she dropped white rose petals onto the grass. The guests stood up, their faces full of profound joy and respect as they watched us approach the altar overlooking the glittering, peaceful waters of the lake.
Standing at the end of the aisle was Dante. He wore a sharp, custom black tuxedo, his tall, imposing figure looking like a king waiting for his queen. The cold, lethal mask he showed the world was completely gone, replaced by an expression of pure, unadulterated devotion as his eyes locked onto mine.
When I reached him, he took my hand, his massive, warm fingers wrapping around mine with that same unbreakable, reassuring pressure he had given me in the back of the SUV nine years ago.
“You are the most beautiful sight this world has ever seen, Clara,” he whispered, his voice trembling slightly with an emotion he had never shown anyone else.
The ceremony was brief, solemn, and incredibly powerful. We didn't swear oaths of corporate loyalty or political convenience. We swore oaths of blood, survival, and an eternal, unyielding love that had been forged in the coldest blizzard and proven through the ultimate fire of justice.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the minister announced. “Dante, you may kiss your bride.”
Dante leaned down, his strong arms wrapping around my waist, lifting me slightly off my feet as his lips met mine in a deep, passionate, and tender kiss that sealed our lives together forever. The crowd erupted into a beautiful, thunderous applause, Aria jumping up and down with absolute joy beside us.
Later that night, as the guests danced under the canopy of stars, Dante and I walked away from the patio, heading down to the wooden dock overlooking the quiet lake. The air was crisp, carrying the sweet scent of autumn leaves and the peaceful murmur of the night.
Dante pulled his cashmere coat around my shoulders, holding me close against his chest as we looked out at the dark, vast horizon.
“Nine years ago, I thought my life was over in an alleyway, Dante,” I whispered, resting my hand over his heart, feeling its steady, powerful beat.

“Your life didn't end, Clara,” Dante murmured, his chin resting against the top of my head as he looked out at the bright, glittering future ahead of us. “It just waited for the right man to come and help you rewrite the script. The storm is over, my love. From now on, you only walk in the light.”
We stood together on the edge of the lake, an unbroken family born of resilience and bound by love, looking out at a horizon that belonged completely, beautifully to us.
