Chapter 8 - The Reclaiming of the Throne

The next morning, the corporate headquarters of Harrington Global—now officially renamed Harper-Salvatici International—was a hive of activity.

I walked through the glass double doors of the top-floor executive suite, wearing a sharp, tailored navy blue suit. Flanking me were twenty of the top legal and financial minds Dante had gathered from across the globe.

The board of directors was already seated around the massive mahogany table, their faces pale, sweating through their expensive collars as they awaited the arrival of the new owner.

I took my seat at the head of the table. I didn't look like a victim anymore. I looked like the ruler I had spent nine years becoming.

“Gentlemen,” I said, leaning forward, resting my hands on the glass table. “The previous management used this company to commit crimes, betray families, and fund their personal greed. That era is over. Effective today, all cryptocurrency funds are cancelled. We are returning to our core strength—global maritime logistics and charitable international medical supply distribution.”

A senior board member swallowed hard, raising his hand trembling slightly. “Ms. Harrington... the market value has dropped twenty percent since Nathaniel's arrest. The investors are panicked.”

“Then give them this,” a deep voice rumbled from the back of the room.

Dante stepped into the boardroom, wearing a dark gray three-piece suit, his presence instantly radiating an absolute, unshakeable stability. He dropped a heavy, gold-sealed document onto the center of the table.

“Salvatici Shipping is officially merging its entire North American fleet with Harper International,” Dante announced, looking around the table with a lethal grin. “We are injecting four billion dollars in liquid capital into this company before the market closes today. Any investor who wants to pull out can leave right now. But if you stay, you are backed by the largest shipping empire on the Atlantic coast.”

The board members looked at the documents, their eyes widening in absolute shock. The panic in the room evaporated instantly, replaced by a profound, ecstatic realization that their company had just become ten times more powerful than it had ever been under Nathaniel.

“We stay, Ms. Harper,” the senior board member said, bowing his head in deep respect. “We stay.”

As the meeting concluded and the board members rushed out to notify the media, I walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass window, looking out at the sprawling skyline of Manhattan. The snow from nine years ago was gone, replaced by a beautiful, bright spring morning.

A pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Dante leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to my neck.

“You did it, Clara,” he whispered. “You took back your father's legacy. You conquered the city.”

“We did it, Dante,” I smiled, leaning my head against his shoulder. “We did it together.”
